Full Job Description

Position Title: Teacher Assistant/Aide

Summary: As a member of the charter school faculty, the teacher aide will assist in the supervision and instructional support of classroom and student activities as a collaborative team member under the direction of a certified classroom teacher.

Compensation: Base Salary-Certified-$41,500.

Qualifications:

An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Bachelor’s preferred)
Valid New York Teacher Certificate
Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.
Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
Demonstrate working knowledge of the use of various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.
Knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability, personality and interests and learning/motivational techniques.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
Knowledge of Smartboard functions and tools.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students, faculty etc.

Essential Performance Responsibilities (The following description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.)

The Teacher Aide supports the mission and vision of iLearn Schools Inc. by serving as an active member of the charter school faculty and assisting the classroom teacher in fostering a positive, supportive, and effective learning environment. Responsibilities include supporting classroom management, preparing instructional materials, assisting with technology activities, and providing instructional support to students under the teacher’s supervision to help ensure all students meet or exceed Common Core State Standards and school goals. The aide helps maintain an organized and nurturing classroom climate, assists with parent involvement activities, and supports school operations in accordance with New Jersey administrative code, school law, charter policies, and procedures. Additional duties include promoting board and administrative initiatives, supporting school events and fundraising efforts, participating in meetings or professional development as needed, communicating effectively with staff, maintaining awareness of the school’s technology plan and emergency procedures, reporting any concerns regarding student safety or well-being, and demonstrating professionalism, ethical responsibility, and continuous professional growth while performing other duties assigned by the classroom teacher or school administrator.
