Job Summary:
Intermediate-level CNC Programmer who programs and sets up CNC milling, lathe, or other machinery according to blueprint specifications. Reads and interprets technical blueprints and design models and inputs the product design into computer modeling software. Adjusts machine settings to desired product specifications and troubleshoots and maintains the machine. Utilizes G/M-code and CAM software (MasterCAM, CAMWorks, or others) with growing independence. Tests the accuracy of settings and programs and increasingly takes ownership of complex machining challenges. Works collaboratively with machinists, engineering, and quality teams to optimize machining processes. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work while gaining exposure to more complex tasks within the job function. Typically requires 2–4 years of related experience.
Essential Functions

· Create, test, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G/M-code) from prints, CAD/CAM files, and work instructions using Mastercam or other CAM software with increasing autonomy.
· Load, verify, and run CNC programs on machines (Haas, Fanuc, Mazak, or equivalent); perform first-piece and in-process inspections with minimal supervision.
· Lead machine set-up activities: select tools, offsets, fixtures, and cutting parameters; perform tool offsets and probe set-ups independently.
· Troubleshoot program and machining issues with greater independence; recommend and implement tooling, fixturing, or program changes to improve cycle time and reduce scrap.
· Read, interpret, and apply mechanical drawings and GD&T to complex part geometries.
· Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve nonconformances; perform in-process CMM or manual inspections as required.
· Develop and refine machining strategies for new or complex parts, applying knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, and fixturing.
· Maintain and improve accurate program files and documentation in the CAM/PDM system; contribute to standardization of programming practices.
· Support and mentor entry-level CNC Programmers and machinists on programming techniques and best practices.
· Follow all safety procedures, 5S, and continuous improvement activities (Kaizen); actively participate in process improvement initiatives.
· Perform cross-training on multiple machine platforms and assist in training others as needed.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
· Mathematical Skills — intermediate geometry for toolpath calculations; reading and applying tolerances and GD&T
· Technical Skills — G/M-code proficiency, CAM toolpath development, speeds/feeds/tooling knowledge, CNC control operation, and precision measurement instruments
· Computer Skills — CAM software, CAD file navigation, PDM/PLM systems, and Microsoft Office for documentation

Education and Experience Requirements
Required (or equivalent experience):
- 2–4 years of CNC programming/machining experience OR formal CNC training (technical school, Journeyman) with demonstrated intermediate-level proficiency.
- Proficient with CAD/CAM software, preferably Mastercam or CAMWorks; capable of programming complex parts with multiple setups.
- Solid understanding of machinability, feeds & speeds, cutting tools, and fixturing; applies this knowledge to optimize programs.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply mechanical drawings including GD&T.
- Comfortable working on a shop floor (standing, lifting up to ~50 lbs occasionally).
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills with ability to work with increasing independence.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
Preferred:
- Experience with Fanuc/Haas/Mazatrol control, conversational programming, or post-processor configuration.
- Prior experience with GIBBS or other CAM platforms.
- Experience with CMM programming or advanced inspection techniques.
- Able to operate a forklift.
- May require a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $31.25 - $38.50 per hour
