Full Job Description

Patient Care Assistant – Full and/or Part Time

Envision Surgery Center is a growing ambulatory surgery center located in West Allis, WI. Our elite team is seeking a full and/ or part time Patient Care Assistant to work Monday – Thursday.

Job Summary

The Patient Care Assistant performs technical tasks that support the nursing staff in all areas of the center, including pre and post op as well as the laser and operating room. The primary focus is for assisting in the delivery of efficient, timely care to the patients of our center through assisting the clinical staff. Wipes down patient care areas and prepares rooms and stretchers for the next patient.

The essential duties for this position are:

Provides basic nursing care and performs a variety of procedures under the direction of a RN.
Prepares patients for their laser procedures and assists in the laser rooms.
Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment and promotes positive customer relations.
Participating in the patient care team to admit patients into the preop area, including initial vital signs and documentation, general assist in the preoperative preparation of patients.
Act as customer service rep and assist patients and their families during their wait
Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
Cross trained to fill in and perform all other job duties as appropriate.
Communicate with other health care team members to assure continuity of care.
Assists with the orientation of new personnel.
Provide relief for front business office, receptionist and other business functions.
Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Assists with stocking of supplies and linens
Assists with patient ambulation and transfer to surgical chair.
Assists with transfer of patient from OR to postop.
Decontamination of supplies (BP cuffs, glucometer, IV pole, monitor cables, EKG cables as per policy.
Wipes down and assembles the eye chair/stretchers for the next patient.
Performs related duties as required.
Escorts patients to their car

The qualified candidate will possess:

Ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Ability to work in a selfdirected environment with little supervision.
Excellent customer service skills
Superior communication skills
Positive and welcoming attitude
Computer literacy
