Full Job Description

Assist in the development and planning of a diverse and varied program of activities and special events that meet the expectations of the residents and are consistent with DOH regulations and community standards.
Implement activities as planned and required.
Assist in assessing new residents and updating the assessments of current residents to consider their individual needs and strengths when scheduling programs, as directed.
Integrate new residents into the daily activities programs.
Closely monitor and follow new residents to foster participation in activities.
Assist in the maintenance of documentation required by DOH for activity planning, resident participation, evaluation and goals.
Assist in Resident Council meetings as directed and foster communication, discussing resident concerns.
Contact and schedule appropriate community groups and performers, as directed.
Assist in the implementation of the volunteer program, and work closely with volunteers through the activities program.
Adhere to the departmental budget
Address residents’ needs and concerns to ensure the protection of resident rights, resident care and resident satisfaction, as well as to provide residents with a safe, comfortable and homelike living environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Provide transportation for residents to attend various community outings or scheduled appointments.

Performance Characteristics and Working Conditions:

Frequent contact with staff, residents and visitors of the facility - considerable tact and patience is required in these interactions.
Ability to demonstrate good judgment in areas of responsibility.
Ability to manage multiple interruptions.
Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Flexibility in the work schedule, including evening and weekend hours as necessary to meet the potential resident’s needs.
Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.

Moderate to heavy (50 pounds) expenditure of physical effort as it relates to lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
Extended periods of time are spent walking or standing (on feet).
Must be able to cope with the physical/emotional stress of the position. .
Limited to moderate exposure to blood borne pathogens.

Works in all areas of the community with residents, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies under all conditions and circumstances.
