About Vamo
Vamo is a last-mile delivery platform built for businesses that need fresh, perishable, and time-sensitive products delivered reliably.
We connect businesses with qualified independent delivery drivers while providing the technology, operational support, and real-time visibility needed to manage complex delivery programs.
We are hiring a Bilingual Onsite Driver Operations Lead to support one of our largest and most important business partners. On busy delivery days, more than 100 Vamo drivers may arrive at the partner’s warehouse to pick up and complete delivery routes throughout the New York area.
This role will serve as the primary onsite connection between Vamo drivers, the warehouse team, Vamo Support, and Vamo’s operations leadership.
About the Role
The Bilingual Onsite Driver Operations Lead will manage the flow of Vamo drivers through the warehouse, from arrival and check-in through loading and departure.
You will maintain visibility into which drivers have arrived, organize the vehicle queue, coordinate the loading sequence, assist drivers with the Vamo Driver app, and address onsite driver or vehicle concerns.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, communicating directly with drivers, and solving problems in real time.
The right person will be organized, calm under pressure, comfortable holding people accountable, and able to communicate professionally in both English and Spanish.
Your goal will be to create an organized, efficient, and professional delivery-day operation while preventing the warehouse team from having to directly manage Vamo drivers.
What You’ll Do
Manage Driver Arrival and Check-In
- Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for Vamo drivers.
- Maintain an accurate, real-time view of drivers who are scheduled, onsite, waiting, loading, late, or missing.
- Check drivers in and direct them to the correct waiting, staging, or loading area.
- Organize vehicle flow and prevent unmanaged lines or congestion around the warehouse.
- Communicate arrival, parking, loading, and departure expectations clearly.
- Help ensure drivers are ready before they reach the loading area.
Coordinate the Driver Queue
- Work with the warehouse team to understand which routes and orders are ready for pickup.
- Sequence drivers for loading based on order readiness, arrival status, vehicle capacity, and operational priorities.
- Ensure drivers do not approach the loading area before being called forward.
- Give the warehouse team clear visibility into which drivers are onsite and who will be loading next.
- Adjust the queue as routes become ready or operating conditions change.
- Help maintain an orderly flow of vehicles through the warehouse.
Support and Coach Drivers
- Assist drivers who are unfamiliar with the Vamo Driver app or warehouse pickup process.
- Help drivers locate route information, confirm assignments, and begin routes correctly.
- Explain loading, handling, parking, and warehouse expectations in English or Spanish.
- Coach new drivers through the onsite process.
- Help reduce repeated questions, confusion, and loading delays.
- Escalate technical, route, or assignment issues to Vamo Support when needed.
Maintain Driver and Vehicle Standards
- Ensure drivers communicate respectfully and follow warehouse rules.
- Confirm that vehicles appear reasonably clean, safe, and appropriate for the assigned delivery volume.
- Address concerns involving driver behavior, poor communication, vehicle condition, box handling, or loading practices.
- Correct inappropriate behavior professionally and directly.
- Document serious or recurring issues for review by Vamo’s operations team.
- Recommend when a driver may need additional coaching, restriction, suspension, or removal from the location.
Resolve Onsite Issues
- Identify late, missing, or unprepared drivers before they disrupt the loading process.
- Respond to vehicle-capacity issues and other pickup risks.
- Coordinate with Vamo Support and operations teams when routes need reassignment or additional intervention.
- Keep drivers informed during delays or changes.
- Prevent warehouse employees from having to directly manage driver disputes or performance issues.
- Provide clear updates during high-volume or time-sensitive situations.
Improve Daily Operations
- Track recurring delays, incidents, driver concerns, and operational bottlenecks.
- Provide Vamo with a brief daily recap of attendance, queue performance, loading issues, and unresolved concerns.
- Help improve check-in, staging, loading, and departure procedures.
- Identify opportunities to reduce driver wait times and warehouse congestion.
- Support the creation and enforcement of clear onsite operating procedures.
- Build strong working relationships with drivers and warehouse employees.
What Success Looks Like
- Drivers know where to go and what to do when they arrive.
- The warehouse team knows which drivers are onsite and who will load next.
- Vehicles move through the loading process in an organized sequence.
- Drivers are prepared before reaching the loading area.
- Driver questions and conduct issues are handled by Vamo rather than the warehouse team.
- Routes depart with the correct orders and minimal unnecessary delay.
- Loading times, driver confusion, and onsite escalations decrease.
- Vamo leadership receives clear visibility into daily performance and recurring issues.
Required Qualifications
- Professional fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and respectfully in both languages.
- 2+ years of experience in logistics, dispatch, transportation, warehouse operations, fleet coordination, field operations, hospitality management, or another fast-paced operational environment.

- Strong communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Comfortable giving clear instructions and consistently enforcing operating standards.
- Able to remain organized while managing a high volume of people, vehicles, and changing priorities.
- Comfortable using mobile applications, spreadsheets, messaging tools, and basic operational software.
- Reliable and able to report onsite by 8:00 a.m. every Wednesday through Saturday.
- Able to work independently and make practical decisions without constant supervision.
Preferred Experience
- Last-mile delivery, courier, gig-economy, transportation, or fleet experience.
- Warehouse staging, dispatch, dock coordination, or vehicle-queue management experience.
- Experience training, onboarding, or coaching drivers or frontline team members.
- Experience documenting incidents and preparing operational reports.
- Familiarity with route-management, delivery, dispatch, or driver applications.
- Experience working with independent contractors.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Able to spend much of the workday standing and walking.
- Able to move regularly between indoor warehouse areas and outdoor vehicle-staging areas.
- Comfortable working around active loading zones, vehicles, carts, and delivery inventory.
- Willing to work in varying weather conditions when coordinating drivers outside.
- Able to occasionally lift or move packages weighing up to 25 pounds.
The Right Person for This Role
You may be a strong fit if you:
- Naturally bring structure to busy or disorganized environments.
- Can be friendly and respectful while still holding people accountable.
- Stay calm when multiple issues happen at the same time.
- Notice problems early and act before they become larger disruptions.
- Communicate confidently with drivers, warehouse employees, support teams, and leadership.
- Are comfortable being visible, proactive, and hands-on throughout the day.
- Take pride in creating a smooth and professional operation.

The regular schedule is:
