Full Job Description

Pulmonologist / Sleep Medicine Physician — Union Square, Manhattan

Outpatient only. No ICU. No nights. No hospital call. Flexible Schedule.

What You Will Actually Do

Outpatient pulmonary and sleep medicine, in a practice that already has the patients and the equipment waiting for you.

Evaluation and management of obstructive and restrictive lung disease, asthma, COPD, chronic cough, dyspnea, ILD, and post-viral respiratory disease
Sleep consultations, home sleep apnea testing interpretation, PAP titration and adherence management, and complex OSA follow-up
PFT and DLCO interpretation on in-house equipment — no outsourcing, no waiting on an outside lab
Building the diagnostic and treatment protocols the program runs on
Working alongside cardiology, neurology, interventional pain, and primary care in the same building, not across a referral network

This is the part most postings gloss over. You are not being asked to build a program from an empty room.

Pulmonary function testing and DLCO on site
Home sleep apnea testing program already running
CPAP/PAP management workflow with adherence tracking
In-house diagnostics: ultrasound, EKG, telemetry, allergy testing, cardiopulmonary testing
athenaOne EMR with AI-assisted documentation — you finish your notes in clinic, not at 11 p.m.
In-network with all major payers — credentialing support handled by our team, not by you

Where Your Patients Come From

The hardest year of any new specialist's career is the first one, waiting for a panel to fill. That is the problem we have already solved.

Umbrella Health runs active primary care, cardiology, neurology, interventional pain, and medical weight management service lines under one roof. The referral volume for sleep-disordered breathing, dyspnea workups, obesity-hypoventilation, and pre-procedural pulmonary clearance is already being generated internally — currently going out the door to other practices.

You are being hired to capture it. Panel maturity here is measured in months, not years.

Who We Are Looking For

Required

BC/BE in Pulmonary Medicine, or BC/BE in Sleep Medicine with pulmonary training
Active or eligible for New York State medical license
Comfort practicing at the top of your license in an outpatient setting

Strongly preferred

Board certification or fellowship training in Sleep Medicine
Interest in program development, not just clinical throughput

Physicians who want part-time sessions at a real hourly rate while keeping another appointment

Your schedule is yours. Four clinical days is standard for full-time. Compressed schedules, four-day weeks, and part-time sessions are all real options, not exceptions we grudgingly allow.

You will build something with your name on it. The sleep program is not fully built. Whoever takes this role shapes the protocols, the testing pathways, and the growth plan — and is paid a directorship stipend to do it.

32 West 14th Street, Union Square, Manhattan On-site clinical practice.
