About the Firm

Block O’Toole & Murphy, LLP is a premier New York City plaintiff’s personal injury law firm representing victims of catastrophic injuries across New York and New Jersey. This is a hybrid position based in our Manhattan office, offering one remote workday per week after the initial training period.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal fluent in Spanish to join our respected team of trial attorneys and legal professionals. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping clients navigate the legal process with empathy and precision.

Responsibilities

Manage and organize case files from intake through trial, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
Communicate directly with clients in English and Spanish to gather information, provide updates, and explain legal procedures.
Draft and respond to discovery demands, subpoenas, and document requests.
Prepare and e-file legal documents in compliance with court rules and deadlines.
Assist with client intake, including initial interviews and case setup.
Support attorneys in trial preparation, including exhibits, witness coordination, and trial binders.
Correspond with opposing counsel, insurance representatives, and experts.
Maintain case progress, notes, and deadlines using Smart Advocate.
Keep clients informed about upcoming court dates, depositions, and case milestones.
Provide general legal and administrative support to attorneys as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

5–7 years of experience in plaintiff-side personal injury litigation
Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) — ability to interpret client communications and translate documents
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Professional, dependable, and client-focused demeanor

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies or related field
Experience with Smart Advocate or similar case management systems
Prior experience assisting with trial preparation
