Job Description

Reports to: Development Manager

Employment Status: Part-Time, Hourly

Hours and Schedule: 15.0 hours/week; flexibility with daily schedule to accommodate occasional weekend and/or evening events.

Location: This position is in-person, working from Spring Creek Towers in East New York, Brooklyn.

Position Overview

The Opportunity Hub is seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded Part-Time Content Creator to support our Development team. This role will primarily focus on creating and managing content for The Opportunity Hub’s social media platforms and e-newsletters, helping to tell the story of our work, highlight community impact, engage supporters, and strengthen relationships with donors, partners, participants, and residents.

The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller with experience creating engaging digital content, a good eye for visuals, and the ability to capture the warmth, energy, and impact of a community-based nonprofit. Familiarity with Spring Creek Towers, East New York, Canarsie, Flatlands, or East Brooklyn is strongly preferred.We are seeking an exceptional team member to support the implementation of technology-based programming and enhance digital access within the community. The Lab Coordinator will assist community members with basic technology needs, maintain equipment, and ensure smooth daily operations of the computer lab. This role is central to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and participant-centered environment for users of all ages. The Lab Coordinator will also contribute to strengthening community engagement by ensuring the Computer Lab remains well-managed, accessible, and responsive to the evolving needs of the broader community.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Content Creation and Management

Develop, draft, and schedule content for The Opportunity Hub’s social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.
Create engaging posts, reels, captions, graphics, stories, and short-form video content that reflect the organization’s voice and values.
Attend programs, events, and community activities as needed to capture photos, videos, quotes, and stories.
Maintain a consistent social media calendar aligned with programs, events, fundraising campaigns, and organizational priorities.
Monitor social media engagement and identify opportunities to increase reach, visibility, and community connection.

E-Newsletter and Donor Communications

Draft and assemble regular e-newsletters for donors, partners, community members, and other stakeholders.
Support the Development Department in creating campaign-related content, including Giving Tuesday, year-end giving, event promotion, donor updates, and impact storytelling.
Help identify and develop stories that demonstrate The Opportunity Hub’s impact across programs and the broader community.
Ensure newsletter content is timely, accurate, visually engaging, and aligned with organizational messaging.

Storytelling and Content Development

Work with program staff to gather updates, participant stories, photos, and highlights from across the organization.
Translate program activities and outcomes into compelling content for a range of audiences.
Maintain a library of photos, videos, testimonials, and story ideas for future use.
Support basic copywriting needs for flyers, event promotions, website updates, and development materials as needed.

Brand and Voice

Ensure all content reflects The Opportunity Hub’s voice and style.
Maintain consistency in branding, language, visuals, and messaging across platforms.
Exercise sound judgment and sensitivity when sharing stories, images, and information about community members and participants.

Qualifications

Experience creating social media content for an organization, nonprofit, small business, or campaign.
Demonstrated ability to work within established brand identity, voice, and style
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Comfort creating short-form video, reels, graphics, captions, and email newsletter content.
Experience using tools such as Canva, Mailchimp or similar e-newsletter platforms, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and basic photo/video editing apps.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a content calendar.
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with staff across departments.
Good judgment, attention to detail, and respect for confidentiality.
Availability to attend evening or weekend events as needed.
Local knowledge of Spring Creek Towers, East New York, Canarsie, or nearby Brooklyn communities strongly preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

This position pays $35-37.50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Part-time employees at The Opportunity Hub receive paid holidays, and paid time off; and are eligible for our employee assistance program and commuter benefits.
