Full Job Description

Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City. CAMBA serves more than 65,000 individuals and families each year, citywide, including almost 13,000 youth. Our 180+ programs in over 100 locations improve the lives of a diverse cross section of New Yorkers. From homelessness prevention in Staten Island to supportive housing in the Bronx; from employment training in Manhattan to after school programs and college access in Brooklyn; from family shelter and support in Queens to increasing affordable housing across the city, CAMBA provides holistic services to help struggling New Yorkers stabilize their lives and become self-sufficient.

Nutritional Outreach Educational Program (NOEP) provides outreach to individuals and families who may be eligible for Food Stamps. Staff assists eligible persons on-site in filling out their applications and provides referrals to other food and nutritional resources.

Position: SNAP Outreach and Enrollment Specialist (NOEP Coordinator)

Reports To: Program Manager

Location: 2241 Church Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11226

What The SNAP Outreach and Enrollment Specialist (NOEP Coordinator) Does:

Inform the general public about the benefits of the Food Stamp Program (FSP) through various communication activities (e.g. – newspaper advertisement, presentation, radio and television advertisements, etc.).
Provide information about FSP eligibility requirements to individuals who may be eligible for food stamp benefits.
Collaborate with other programs to identify clients potentially eligible for Food Stamps.
Provide updated and correct information about the food stamps program through outreach events.
Conduct pre-screenings to determine potential food stamp eligibility.
Engage clients and assist them in completing the food stamp application process.
Obtain application outcome information of the households referred to the food stamp program.
Provide appropriate referrals to other nutrition assistance programs and community resources.
Assist households who are already receiving food stamps to receive the correct amount of food stamps.
Identify the barriers to participation in the School Breakfast program in targeted school(s) and in the Summer Food Service program.
Reduce or eliminate barriers (e.g. - local level practice/procedure/step) that discourage food stamp eligible households from completing the food stamp application process, and determine how many households will benefit.
Educate local agencies (e.g. – departments of local government, community organizations, etc.) about the benefits of collaboration with the NOEP.
Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/semester/annual reports to CAMBA management and/or to funders.
May market and outreach to potential referral sources.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

Associate’s degree (A.A.) and/or equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Bi-lingual Spanish/English or Haitian Creole/English strongly preferred.

Compensation: $40,000-$45,000 annually
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
