Lead One of San Antonio's Most Celebrated Restaurant Teams

Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven General Manager to lead the daily operations of one of our award-winning restaurants. This is an opportunity for a passionate leader who thrives in a fast-paced, chef-driven environment and is committed to creating exceptional guest experiences while developing high-performing teams.

As General Manager, you'll partner closely with the Chef de Cuisine to oversee all aspects of restaurant operations, including service excellence, financial performance, staffing, team development, and guest satisfaction. You'll lead by example, cultivate a positive culture, and ensure every service reflects the hospitality standards that define our restaurants.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Operations

Lead all front-of-house operations and partner with the Chef de Cuisine to manage the restaurant.
Drive an exceptional guest experience through visible, hands-on leadership during service.
Oversee restaurant opening, closing, floor management, and daily service execution.
Conduct daily pre-shift meetings covering reservations, menu changes, and nightly priorities.
Manage OpenTable, POS systems, reservations, seating strategy, and guest flow.
Build relationships with guests and resolve concerns professionally to create loyal, repeat customers.

Team Leadership

Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train front-of-house employees.
Coach and develop managers and hourly team members through regular feedback and performance reviews.
Foster a positive, engaging workplace culture built on accountability, teamwork, and hospitality.
Ensure staffing levels support operational excellence and financial goals.
Serve as the leadership example for professionalism, service standards, and employee engagement.

Financial Management

Manage weekly payroll and tip pool administration.
Oversee labor costs, beverage cost, sales performance, and daily cash handling.
Analyze financial performance and participate in regular P&L reviews.
Drive revenue through service excellence, reservations strategy, staff education, and community engagement.

Communication & Accountability

Prepare daily operational reports for ownership and corporate leadership.
Lead regular management meetings and maintain strong communication across departments.
Ensure compliance with company policies, HR procedures, safety standards, and health regulations.
Coordinate maintenance needs and oversee execution of private events.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a hospitality professional who leads with integrity, positivity, and accountability.

Qualifications

3+ years of restaurant General Manager experience (chef-driven or upscale dining preferred)
Strong leadership and team development skills
Excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities
Financial acumen with experience managing labor, sales, and operating costs
Passion for hospitality, food, wine, and guest service
Ability to multitask and thrive in a high-volume environment
ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain)
TABC Certification (or ability to obtain)

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods
Lift up to 45 pounds
Bend, twist, stoop, and work in a fast-paced restaurant environment
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as business demands.
