Maintenance Manager

Schedule: Rotating weekends off
Location: Brookshire, TX

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance department within a high-speed automated packaging facility. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for supervising maintenance personnel, ensuring maximum equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in automated packaging equipment while effectively managing maintenance operations, scheduling, and team development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and mechanics to ensure timely completion of repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of automated packaging equipment including:
Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) machines
Robotic case packers and palletizing systems
Conveyors and material handling systems
Label applicators and barcode scanning equipment
Shrink wrap and bag sealing machinery
Metal detectors and checkweighers
Cartoners and automated bagging equipment
Develop, implement, and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-related issues.
Coordinate with production management to prioritize maintenance activities and minimize disruption to operations.
Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and equipment histories to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Manage spare parts inventory and establish relationships with equipment manufacturers and outside service providers.
Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and food-grade manufacturing standards.
Participate in capital improvement projects, equipment installations, and process optimization initiatives.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all maintenance-related concerns and emergency repairs.

Qualifications of a successful Maintenance Manager

Minimum of 7 years of industrial maintenance experience in packaging, food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or contract packaging environments.
At least 3 years of experience supervising or managing maintenance personnel.
Extensive knowledge of automated packaging machinery and high-speed production equipment.
Strong understanding of electrical systems up to 480V, motor controls, VFDs, sensors, and pneumatic systems.
Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and HMI interfaces.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Welding, fabrication, and machining experience is preferred.
Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment as needed.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in a contract packaging or consumer packaged goods facility.
Proven ability to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and lead maintenance teams in a fast-paced production environment.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
