Behavioral Health Group Facilitator

Monarch Competency
Arvada, Colorado
$24.00–$27.00 per hour | Full-time

Position Overview

Monarch Competency is seeking a compassionate, engaging, and dependable Behavioral Health Group Facilitator to support adults with severe and persistent mental illness and other complex behavioral health needs.

Monarch Competency provides community-based behavioral health and competency-restoration services to adults who may experience significant mental health challenges, involvement with the legal system, and barriers to successful community living. Our programming helps clients build practical skills, participate meaningfully in treatment, and make progress toward greater stability and independence. Previous competency-restoration experience is helpful but not required.

This is a group-centered position. The Behavioral Health Group Facilitator will typically lead approximately 16–25 hours of programming each week. Groups may include life skills, stress management, activity therapy, and psychoeducational or skills-based programming provided within PHP and IOP services. Depending on the employee’s experience and capabilities, they may use established curricula, develop original group content, or both.

Outside of scheduled groups, the employee will provide practical and individualized client support, complete required documentation, collaborate with other clinical team members, and assist with community-based client needs.

This is a full-time, hourly position requiring one weekend day each week.

Primary Responsibilities

Facilitate structured and engaging groups for adults with behavioral health needs.
Lead life-skills, stress-management, activity-therapy, and psychoeducational or skills-based groups within PHP and IOP programming.
Create an inclusive, respectful environment that encourages client participation and engagement.
Adapt facilitation techniques to meet different learning styles, abilities, and client needs.
Use established group curricula and, when appropriate, develop original group content.
Collaborate with other clinical staff to ensure groups support client needs and treatment goals.
Manage group dynamics professionally, compassionately, and effectively.
Complete required group documentation accurately and on time.

Activity Therapy and Whole-Person Wellness

Facilitate activity-therapy groups that incorporate body movement, engaging activities, recreation, and whole-person wellness.
Use a variety of accessible activities to encourage participation, connection, stress reduction, and improved physical and mental well-being.
Adapt activities to accommodate clients with different abilities, needs, and comfort levels.

Individualized Client Support

Provide respectful, one-on-one guidance and encouragement to clients.
Help clients develop practical life skills and complete meaningful treatment-related goals.
Conduct regular check-ins and help clients identify achievable personal milestones.
Support clients in navigating challenges related to independent living, community engagement, healthcare, employment, housing, and other resources.
Provide feedback and adjust support strategies based on each client’s progress and needs.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while building trusting and supportive relationships.

Collaboration and Client Services

Work closely with the Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, therapists, and other team members.
Share relevant observations and insights to support coordinated client care.
Participate in supervision, team meetings, training, and professional development.
Complete required documentation in accordance with program expectations.
Assist with practical client needs, which may include shopping, community-based activities, or transportation.
Maintain a supportive, nonjudgmental environment in which clients can learn, practice new behaviors, and take greater ownership of their progress.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field.
Ability to work full-time, including one weekend day each week.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish rapport while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Ability to facilitate structured groups and respond effectively to different personalities and group dynamics.
Empathetic, compassionate, patient, and client-centered approach.
Genuine interest in working with adults experiencing significant behavioral health challenges.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused during challenging situations.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable driving requirements for client-related responsibilities.

Preferred

At least one year of professional experience in behavioral health, social services, human services, education, group programming, or a related support setting.
Experience facilitating groups is strongly preferred and may be considered more important than direct behavioral-health experience.
Experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness or other high-acuity behavioral health needs.
Experience with PHP, IOP, life-skills education, activity therapy, stress-management programming, or similar groups.
Familiarity with motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, strengths-based practices, or recovery-oriented services.
Experience developing group curricula or adapting existing curricula to meet participant needs.

Pay range: $24.00–$27.00 per hour, based on relevant experience, group-facilitation ability, education, and qualifications.

Schedule: Full-time; one weekend day required each week.
