Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Specialized Peer Support Coach to empower individuals on their recovery journey. In this vital role, you will serve as a relatable guide, leveraging your lived experience and professional skills to support clients facing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Your energetic approach will foster hope, resilience, and positive change, helping clients navigate their recovery with confidence. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in diverse communities by providing compassionate, culturally sensitive peer support rooted in evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

Provide peer-led support to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use issues, or co-occurring disorders, utilizing recovery-oriented and harm reduction strategies.
Implement crisis management and crisis intervention techniques to ensure client safety during acute episodes.
Use motivational interviewing and behavioral health counseling skills to facilitate client engagement and goal setting.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using electronic health record (EHR) systems to document progress, treatment plans, and service delivery accurately.
Maintain strict confidentiality of client information while advocating for client needs within the healthcare system.
Develop culturally competent approaches to working with diverse populations, ensuring respectful and inclusive support services.
Mentor clients through recovery milestones, fostering independence and self-advocacy.
Promote harm reduction principles by educating clients on safer practices related to substance use.
Engage in ongoing training related to addiction counseling, social work practices, and peer support advocacy to enhance service quality.

Experience

Proven experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders in community or clinical settings.
Demonstrated expertise in crisis management, crisis intervention, and behavioral health counseling techniques.
Strong background in recovery peer support or addiction counseling with a focus on motivational interviewing and harm reduction strategies.
Experience working with culturally diverse communities and understanding the importance of cultural competence in mental health services.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and client tracking purposes.
Ability to share personal recovery experiences authentically while maintaining professional boundaries.
Excellent communication skills for effective client engagement and collaboration with healthcare teams.
Knowledge of social work principles, peer support advocacy, and confidentiality standards essential for ethical practice.
3-5 years of coaching experience
