Job Overview

Join our dynamic cybersecurity team as a Junior Network Security Engineer and become a vital part of safeguarding our IT infrastructure! In this energetic role, you will assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network security measures across diverse environments. Your proactive approach will help us detect vulnerabilities, respond swiftly to security incidents, and ensure compliance with industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your cybersecurity expertise while contributing to the protection of critical digital assets.

Duties

Support the deployment and management of network security devices such as firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA), IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools to monitor security events.
Assist in configuring and maintaining VPNs, IPsec tunnels, and network protocols to secure remote access and data transmission.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and security risk investigations using cybersecurity tools, vulnerability research, and threat intelligence sources.
Participate in incident response activities including threat detection & response, incident management, and incident recovery procedures.
Help implement security system administration tasks aligned with IT infrastructure standards like ISO 27001, ISO 27000 series, FIPS, and NIST standards.
Contribute to system hardening efforts on operating systems such as Linux (Debian, CentOS), Windows, macOS, and mobile platforms like Android and iOS.
Support network support activities including LAN/WAN configuration, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), load balancing, high availability setups, and disaster recovery planning.
Assist in maintaining security documentation such as system security plans, GPOs (Group Policy Objects), and cloud security architecture for platforms like Azure or Google Cloud Platform.

Experience

Basic understanding of computer networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Ethernet, VLANs, VPNs, and network architecture principles.
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST standards, FISMA compliance requirements, COBIT governance practices, and FedRAMP regulations.
Exposure to security tools including SIEM platforms like Splunk or SolarWinds, endpoint detection & response (EDR) solutions, Fiddler for log analysis, and network monitoring tools like PRTG or SolarWinds.
Knowledge of open-source operating systems such as Ubuntu or openSUSE; experience with virtualization technologies like VMware or vSphere is a plus.
Demonstrated interest or experience in threat detection & response strategies using attack frameworks and vulnerability assessment techniques.
Strong foundation in computer science principles related to system security plans, encryption methods (SSL/TLS), authentication protocols (LDAP/SAML), and identity & access management practices.
Prior exposure to cloud computing environments including IaaS/PaaS models on platforms like Azure or Google Cloud is advantageous.
