Full Job Description

Overview

Searching for a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant, with strong administrative skills and a solid understanding of various areas of immigration law, including family based adjustments, waivers and consular processing, removal defense, DACA, FOIAs, and Naturalization.

Duties

Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, application packets and contracts.
Conduct legal research to support case preparation and strategy.
Manage case files and maintain organized records for easy access and retrieval.
Interview clients and witnesses to gather necessary information for cases.
File documents with USCIS, courts and other relevant agencies in compliance with legal procedures.
Draft correspondence and communicate effectively with clients in Spanish and English, communicate with ICE, USCIS, and court personnel.
Schedule appointments, manage calendars, and coordinate meetings for attorneys.
Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing emails, taking payments, and maintaining office supplies.

Requirements:

Proven ONE year of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar administrative role within a law firm.
Read, speak, and write PROFICIENTLY in Spanish.
Familiarity with various areas of immigration law including family based adjustments, waivers and consular processing, removal defense, DACA, FOIAs, and Naturalization
Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
Proficient in legal research techniques and tools.
Excellent interviewing skills to effectively gather information from clients and witnesses.
Knowledge of paralegal duties.
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal management software is advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
