Olmsted Auto Care is actively looking for an Automotive Service Specialist / Automotive Technician to strengthen our team.
This is a long posting on purpose. We are not interested in simply filling a bay.

The right candidate should:
- Take pride in producing accurate, high-quality repairs
- Be capable of working independently while still functioning as part of a team
- Diagnose vehicles through proper testing rather than guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily
- Follow a structured diagnostic process
- Clearly document testing, findings, and repair results
- Be comfortable using scan tools, wiring diagrams, service information, technical databases, and modern diagnostic equipment
- Understand automotive electrical and electronic systems appropriate to their experience level
- Be capable of performing maintenance and repairs appropriate to their skill level
- Accurately complete digital vehicle inspections
- Identify and communicate additional concerns discovered during inspection or repair
- Perform quality-control checks and verify completed repairs
- Test-drive vehicles when appropriate
- Work efficiently without sacrificing quality
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
- Respect client vehicles, tools, equipment, and company property
- Communicate effectively with service consultants and other specialists
- Ask for help when needed and offer help when another team member needs support
- Accept coaching and constructive feedback
- Be dependable, punctual, and prepared to contribute
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude

Technical Qualifications
Experienced candidates should be comfortable with many of the following:
- Engine performance diagnosis
- Electrical and electronic diagnosis
- Starting and charging systems
- Brake systems
- Steering and suspension
- HVAC systems
- Engine mechanical repair
- Cooling systems
- Fuel and ignition systems
- Drivetrain systems
- Preventive maintenance
- Scan-tool operation
- Wiring-diagram interpretation
- Digital vehicle inspections
- Technical service information
- Diagnostic testing and documentation
ASE certifications are strongly preferred for experienced candidates.
ASE Master Technician status and advanced-level certifications are highly valued and compensated accordingly.
ASE & Training Expectations
Professional development is important at Olmsted Auto Care.
ASE certifications are directly connected to our compensation and advancement structure.
Experienced Automotive Specialists are expected to maintain certifications appropriate to their experience and continue progressing professionally.
Technicians who have not yet reached ASE Master Technician status are expected to continue working toward Master-level certification as they develop.
We support ongoing technical training and professional development.
We do not expect you to know everything.
We do expect you to keep learning.
Compensation
Our Automotive Specialists are paid using a transparent 8-level compensation structure based on experience, ASE certifications, advanced certifications, and production.
Compensation includes an hourly base wage plus production bonus at applicable levels.
Production Bonus Tiers
- Tier 1: 32–38.99 billed hours
- Tier 2: 39–45.99 billed hours
- Tier 3: 46+ billed hours

Starting level is based on experience, current certifications, demonstrated ability, and qualifications.

Hybrid 4-Day Work Week
We believe you should be able to build a successful automotive career without giving your entire life to the shop.
Olmsted Auto Care operates on a hybrid 4-day work week.
Two Fridays each month, the entire shop is closed.
That means:
- Two built-in 3-day weekends each month
- No Saturdays
- No Sundays
- Entire shop closed on scheduled Fridays

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must:
- Have a valid driver's license
- Be able to safely operate client and company vehicles
- Have automotive repair experience appropriate to the level being considered
- Have or be developing a professional tool set appropriate to their skill level
- Be physically capable of performing automotive repair duties
- Be comfortable using computers and modern automotive technology
- Be able to clearly document testing and repair findings
- Be willing to participate in ongoing training
- Maintain certifications already earned
- Demonstrate professional communication and teamwork
- Produce work that meets Olmsted Auto Care quality standards
