Mack Industries is looking for a Plant Controller to join our team and play a key role in driving the financial success of our manufacturing operations. This is more than a traditional accounting position—you’ll serve as a strategic business partner to plant leadership, using financial data and analysis to improve profitability, control costs, strengthen processes, and support operational decision-making.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the General Managers, CFO, Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Sales, and Dispatch teams. You’ll have the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work on plant performance while helping leadership make informed decisions about budgets, costs, inventory, capital investments, and operational efficiency.

What You’ll Do
Financial Leadership & Business Partnership

Serve as the primary financial business partner to the General Manager and plant leadership.

Provide financial insight, analysis, and recommendations to help improve plant profitability and performance.

Prepare and present monthly financial results, including the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, and key operational metrics.

Maintain and update financial dashboards and performance reporting.

Partner with leadership to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen financial performance.

Support capital expenditure projects through financial analysis and modeling.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management

Lead the annual budgeting process in partnership with the General Manager and plant leadership.

Track performance against budget and provide regular updates and analysis to department leaders.

Analyze production hours and operational performance to help the plant achieve efficiency goals.

Evaluate overhead rates and absorption and partner with the CFO to make appropriate adjustments.

Identify trends, variances, and opportunities and translate financial data into actionable recommendations.
Cost Accounting & Inventory

Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, and physical inventory processes.

Ensure accurate accounting for raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, supplies, and other plant inventory.

Monitor cycle counts and work with plant teams to maintain accurate inventory records.

Partner with Sales and Dispatch to maintain accurate yard inventories.

Ensure Bills of Material are accurate and collaborate with Engineering on updates and improvements.

Analyze purchasing activity and measure cost savings initiatives.

Oversee the accounts payable process and ensure invoices are properly coded, approved, and processed.
Accounting, Compliance & Controls

Ensure financial reporting and accounting practices comply with GAAP and company policies.

Maintain strong internal financial controls and identify opportunities to improve processes.

Record capital asset transactions and maintain accurate fixed asset records.

Support internal and external audits.

Complete required personal property, sales, and use tax filings.

Help ensure the plant maintains accurate and reliable financial information.
What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

5+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably within a manufacturing or operational environment.

Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory, financial reporting, and budgeting.

Experience working with an ERP system and strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn financial data into meaningful business insights.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both accounting and operations teams.

A collaborative, hands-on approach and the ability to build strong relationships across departments.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
