Full Job Description

The Opportunity

National Lift Truck is seeking an experienced, customer service-oriented Service Manager to lead the growing service team at our new location in College Station, Texas. The Service Manager oversees all field and shop service operations and ensures that rental and customer-owned material handling equipment and aerial lifts are maintained and repaired to the highest standards of safety and performance. In this hands-on role, you will also perform equipment repairs and maintenance as needed, build and maintain customer relationships, and act as a primary point of contact for service-related matters. As the Service Manager, you will have a real impact on the growth and success of our Texas branch, backed by the support of a company with over 70 years of experience in the material handling rental, sales, and service industry. What You Will Do

Oversee all service operations, including maintenance, repairs, and installations of material handling equipment.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on a variety of material handling equipment alongside service mechanic team.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging team members to excel in their roles.
Lead and manage a team of service mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support.
Ensure that service jobs are completed on time and meet quality standards.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and act as a primary point of contact for service-related matters.
Address customer concerns and inquiries, resolving issues effectively.
Schedule and assign service tasks to technicians based on priority, skillset, and availability.
Optimize service schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime for clients.
Develop and manage the service department budget, including cost control, and forecasting.
Monitor expenses, track performance metrics, and implement cost-saving measures.
Manage parts and equipment inventory to ensure timely availability for service jobs.
Generate service reports, performance metrics, and other necessary documentation.
Maintain accurate records of service history, work orders, and customer interactions.
Implement process improvements and best practices to enhance service quality and efficiency.
Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and regulations.
Ability to travel frequently throughout the College Station, TX service area, with occasional out-of-state travel for training and professional development.

What We Are Looking For

Proven experience in service leadership role, particularly in material handling equipment or similar technical industry.
Strong equipment diagnostic and problem-solving skills for gas, propane, diesel, and electric-powered equipment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Knowledge in material handling equipment and related technical systems.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience servicing material handling equipment or similar technical industry.
Must have own tools suitable for heavy equipment repair.
Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs, occasionally more
Working knowledge of scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, and other material handling equipment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), and ERP systems
Experience accurately quoting repair work
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Compensation
