Job Title: Housing Director (LALD) | Assisted Living & Memory Care

Location: Waconia, Minnesota

Compensation: $120,000-$150,000 annually

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday + Shared On-Call & Weekend Responsibilities

This Isn't a Role Where You Lead From an Office

We want residents to know who you are.

Families should recognize you when you walk through the building.

Employees should feel comfortable bringing you an idea, concern, or challenge.

And you should know enough about what's happening throughout your community to recognize when something doesn't feel right.

You'll still manage the numbers.

You'll still oversee compliance.

You'll still be responsible for operational performance.

But you'll do it while remaining connected to the community you're responsible for leading.

What You'll Own

Your People

Lead, coach, and develop department leaders and frontline employees.
Build a leadership team capable of owning their departments.
Establish clear expectations and hold leaders accountable for results.
Improve employee engagement, retention, and staffing stability.
Recognize high performers and develop future leaders.
Address performance concerns instead of allowing them to become cultural problems.
Create an environment where employees understand both what's expected and why their work matters.

Your Community

Serve as the visible operational leader of Nagel Assisted Living.
Build relationships with residents and families.
Stay connected to the day-to-day resident experience.
Partner with prospective residents and families during the decision and move-in process.
Resolve concerns quickly, professionally, and personally.
Create a community residents are proud to call home and families confidently recommend.

Your Performance

Take ownership of occupancy and community growth.
Oversee budgets, labor, expenses, and overall financial performance.
Monitor staffing trends, resident satisfaction, quality indicators, and operational metrics.
Identify underperforming areas and implement solutions.
Partner with clinical leadership to maintain excellent resident care.
Build relationships with referral partners and the surrounding community.

Your Standards

Maintain compliance with Minnesota Assisted Living regulations.
Ensure ongoing survey readiness.
Understand and oversee 6790 completion, service planning alignment, reimbursement, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
Participate confidently in state surveys and regulatory reviews.
Create accountability around corrective actions and identified deficiencies.
Build a culture where compliance is part of everyday operations, not a scramble before survey.

We're Looking for Someone Who Has Already Led

This isn't intended to be someone's first exposure to senior living leadership.

We're looking for an experienced Minnesota LALD who understands what it means to own the performance of a community.

Required Qualifications

Active Minnesota Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) license.
Executive Director, Housing Director, Administrator, or comparable leadership experience within senior living.
Strong Assisted Living and/or Memory Care operational experience.
Knowledge of Minnesota Assisted Living regulations, governing bodies, and state survey processes.
Experience managing budgets, labor, staffing, occupancy, and operational performance.
Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold leaders accountable.
Strong resident and family relationship skills.
Track record of improving community performance.
Ability to balance the people side and business side of senior living.
