Position Summary
Tectran is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Pricing Analyst to join our Corporate Headquarters in Cheektowaga, New York. This is a developmental, early-career role for someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving business problems, and understanding how products are manufactured, sourced, priced, and sold.
Reporting to the Pricing Manager, the Pricing Analyst will support product costing, customer quotations, pricing decisions, profitability analysis, price-change implementation, and pricing data accuracy. The role works closely with Sales, Finance, Sourcing, Engineering, Operations, and Customer Service.
Training will be provided on Tectran's products, systems, costing methods, and pricing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing & Cost Analysis
- Analyze product costs, selling prices, margins, and profitability. Prepare cost and pricing analyses using material, labor, freight, tariffs, packaging, overhead, and other cost information.
- Build pricing models and evaluate different volume, margin, sourcing, and manufacturing scenarios. RFQs & Price Implementation
- Support customer RFQs, quotations, bid packages, and new-business opportunities. Assist with customer price changes and track them from approval through implementation.
- Review purchase orders, invoices, EDI records, customer portals, and internal systems to identify pricing discrepancies and confirm approved pricing is being used.
Profitability & Market Analysis
- Compare expected pricing actions with actual invoiced results and analyze price realization, margin, product mix, and customer profitability.
- Research competitive products, market pricing, and industry trends. Create recurring pricing, margin, and profitability reports and communicate key findings.
Pricing Data & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate pricing, quotation, and cost data in Epicor and related systems. Maintain documentation for pricing decisions, approvals, effective dates, and customer agreements.
- Assist with developing standard operating procedures for quotations, price changes, customer followup, and pricing analysis. Identify outdated, duplicate, missing, or inconsistent pricing records and assist with pricing-data audits and cleanup. Identify opportunities to simplify or automate repetitive pricing and reporting processes using Excel, reporting tools, AI, and other approved technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Analytics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant work experience or an Associate's degree may also be considered.
- 0-3 years of experience in pricing, finance, data analysis, sales analysis, manufacturing, sourcing, supply chain, or a related field.
Technical Skills & Core Competencies
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills or the ability and desire to quickly develop advanced Excel skills.
- Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, and large amounts of business data. Strong attention to detail and an ability to identify inconsistencies or unusual results. Logical problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and follow through to completion.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn about products, manufacturing, customers, and markets. Ability to work effectively with multiple departments.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in any of the following is helpful but not required: ERP, CRM, reporting, or business-intelligence systems. Epicor, HubSpot, Power BI, Qlik, or similar tools.
- Manufacturing, automotive, heavy-duty truck, industrial products, or distribution.
- Product costing, quotations, bills of material, customer pricing, or margin analysis.
- Process improvement, automation, or practical uses of artificial intelligence.

You will initially work closely with the Pricing Manager and experienced team members and take on greater responsibility as your product knowledge, analytical skills, and understanding of the business grow.
The successful candidate will develop the ability to independently analyze costs and pricing, support customer quotations, identify profitability opportunities, resolve pricing discrepancies, and improve the tools and processes Tectran uses to make pricing decisions.
