Job Title: Mammography Technologist
Reports to: Mammography Manager
Status: Non-Exempt

What we have posted is our good faith estimate of what we expect to pay: $30-$36 per hour.
Summary: The Mammography Technologist works as a member of the Mammography team, reporting to the Mammography Manager. This role provides X-ray based imaging to patients and supports the patient experience throughout their time at GLMI. Effective communication between departments and exemplary patient care must be maintained. This role performs a variety of tasks beyond Mammography imaging including; patient calls, documentation in charts, and assisting with both patient and other co-worker needs.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
-
Perform mammography exams, including screening and diagnostic procedures, to obtain high-quality images for interpretation by radiologists.

Review patient history and records to ensure accurate imaging and appropriate follow-up care.

Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and address any concerns before and during the imaging process.

Ensure outside images are obtained prior to the study and coordinates the report addendum from the Radiologist once images arrive.

Document patient history and forward it to the Radiologist.

Position patients properly to ensure optimal imaging results, minimizing discomfort during the procedure.

Monitor patients throughout the exam to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Adhere to radiation safety and infection control protocols, ensuring that radiation exposure is minimized.

Critique images before being sent to the Radiologist.

Coordinate any additional studies needed to obtain a thorough and complete exam.

Call patients with results when necessary.

Collect samples for patient genetic testing and schedule office visits when needed.

Perform Stereotactic biopsies.

Assist with ultrasound guided biopsies.
-
Respond to patient concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Disinfect mammography machine and exam room after each patient.

Maintain, monitor and restock various medical supplies as needed.

Perform quality assurance in accordance with FDA and MQSA guidelines.

Perform Bone Density exams.
-
Assist PSR team and/or administrative staff when needed.

When available, help fellow technologists (i.e. change patients)

Attend all required staff meetings, training seminars and other designated meetings.

Overtime may be required, as needed.

Necessary Skills:
-
Ability to perform each duty as listed above.

Strong computer skills including use of information systems (PACS/RIS) and Google based programs.

Problem solving skills

Strong oral communication skills including both phone and in person.

Experience in radiology or medical terminology preferred

Qualifications:

Associates degree or higher preferred or equivalent experience

Have and maintain ARRT and NYS licensing requirements including continuing education credits.

CPR/BLS certification is required

Knowledge of applicable patient positioning and technique for modality.

2 years of previous experience is preferred but not required.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
