Front Teller - Member Service Specialist

Good Neighbors Credit Union
Location: Buffalo, NY (must be able to travel between both offices)

Our Member Service Specialists are often the first point of contact for our members and play a critical role in setting the tone for every interaction.

Position Summary

The Front Teller is a front-line, member-facing role responsible for providing accurate, efficient, and friendly service in a fast-paced branch environment. This is a fully in-person, on-site position compensated at $21.75 per hour, and includes a highly competitive and generous benefits package.

MSS team members handle a high volume of daily interactions and are often the first impression of Good Neighbors Credit Union. This role requires comfort with cash handling, strong multitasking skills, and the ability to problem-solve on the fly while ensuring members feel welcomed, respected, and cared for.

Key Responsibilities

Perform accurate and efficient teller transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, and check cashing
Maintain a balanced cash drawer and follow all cash-handling and audit procedures
Serve as the first point of contact for members entering the branch
Deliver high-quality, friendly, and professional service while representing the Good Neighbor Experience
Manage a high volume of member interactions, often assisting 40–50 members per day
Answer incoming calls, return voicemails, and respond to member inquiries in a timely manner
Assist members with basic account questions, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
Support digital and electronic transactions, including online banking inquiries
Identify member needs and refer products or services when appropriate
Follow all credit union policies, procedures, and compliance standards
Support daily branch operations and assist team members as needed
Maintain confidentiality of all member information
Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred
1+ years of customer service experience
1+ years of hands-on cash handling experience
Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills
Ability to remain calm, friendly, and accurate in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable engaging with members in person and over the phone
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to travel between both branch locations

Compensation Statement

The advertised pay rate represents what we believe at the time of this job posting that Good Neighbors Credit Union would be willing to pay for this position. Only in special circumstances, where a candidate has education, training, or experience that far exceeds the requirements for the position, would compensation higher than the stated rate be considered.
