Full Job Description

Financial Reporting Manager

Buffalo, NY
$120,000–$140,000

A growing, publicly traded organization is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to join its corporate accounting team in Buffalo. This is a highly visible position for someone who knows SEC reporting inside and out and is comfortable navigating complex technical accounting matters in a public-company environment.

The role will take significant ownership of external financial reporting, including quarterly and annual SEC filings, while partnering closely with senior leadership, external auditors, legal counsel, and investor relations. You'll also serve as an internal resource on evolving accounting guidance and help ensure the organization remains ahead of changes in GAAP and SEC requirements.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for someone currently working in SEC reporting, technical accounting, corporate accounting, or public accounting who is ready for broader ownership and executive-level exposure.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy Statements, and related disclosures.
Research complex accounting matters and develop clear, well-supported recommendations in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
Address technical accounting topics involving areas such as revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, debt, equity, and emerging accounting guidance.
Support implementation of new accounting standards and determine their impact on financial reporting.
Coordinate quarterly and annual financial statement preparation and supporting schedules.
Manage monthly internal financial reporting activities and related analysis.
Lead audit preparation, including schedules, workpapers, supporting documentation, and communication with independent auditors.
Partner with external auditors, legal counsel, investor relations, and internal stakeholders throughout quarterly and year-end reporting cycles.
Prepare financial reporting materials and present information to senior leadership, the Disclosure Committee, and Audit Committee.
Support SOX compliance, financial audits, and the continued development of effective financial controls.
Provide technical accounting guidance across the organization and stay current on changes to GAAP and SEC regulations.
Mentor and develop accounting team members while maintaining high standards for accuracy, documentation, and reporting quality.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Approximately 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience working for a publicly traded company and/or a large public accounting firm.
Strong working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and U.S. GAAP.
Demonstrated ability to research and resolve complex technical accounting questions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate accounting matters to senior leadership.
Experience coordinating with external auditors and cross-functional business partners.
CPA strongly preferred; a master's degree is also highly desirable.
International accounting exposure is helpful but not required.

This is an opportunity to step into a critical corporate reporting position with meaningful ownership of SEC reporting, technical accounting, and executive-level communication during an important period of organizational growth.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
