Full Job Description

Manufacturing Estimator – Wire Forming / Precision Manufacturing

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL

We are seeking a Manufacturing Estimator to join a well-established precision manufacturing company specializing in custom wire forming and spring manufacturing. This role is a great opportunity for someone who understands manufacturing processes and enjoys using their technical knowledge to support quoting, customer projects, and business growth.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can review a customer print, understand how a part will be manufactured, and help determine the materials, processes, tooling, and labor required to produce it successfully. This position will work closely with engineering, sales, and production teams to develop accurate quotes and identify the best manufacturing approach.

This is a hands-on role in a smaller manufacturing environment where your experience and ideas will have a direct impact. Someone with a background in wire forming, springs, machining, stamping, tooling, or production, who wants to transition into estimating would be a strong fit.

Responsibilities:

Review customer drawings, prints, and specifications to support quoting activities
Analyze manufacturing requirements including material, labor, tooling, and production processes
Assist with preparing accurate cost estimates and customer quotations
Work with engineering and production teams to determine manufacturing feasibility
Support prototype and new product quoting
Research material and outside processing costs
Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs
Maintain estimating documentation and costing information
Communicate technical details with internal teams
Support continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in a contract manufacturing environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and production methods
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working with numbers and cost calculations
Ability to communicate effectively with production, engineering, and sales teams
Experience with metals, wire forming, springs, stamping, machining, or similar precision manufacturing processes preferred
ERP/MRP systems; Global Shop experience is a plus
