Full Job Description

The University at Buffalo School of Law invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track assistant clinical professor to direct its Family Violence and Women’s Right clinic, specifically in the areas of Domestic Violence and related Family Law. Three-year contract, indefinitely renewable if appropriate progress is achieved, with potential advancement to ranks of Associate Clinical Professor and Clinical Professor in subsequent contract terms.

Position Responsibilities include:

All aspects of teaching, supervising, and directing a Domestic Violence and Family Law Clinic, including curriculum development and maintaining an active clinical legal practice within the local community.
Assisting with planning, drafting, applying for, and securing grants to support the clinic and clinical department.
Managing grants and state funding, including internal oversight for deadlines, records, and reporting as well as monitoring federal, state, and local grants in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and guidelines.
Additional teaching obligations with an experiential focus.
Service obligations related to the program as well as departmental and university affiliations.

Minimum Qualifications

J.D. degree and a minimum of three years legal practice experience in domestic violence and family law.
Admitted to the practice of law in New York State or verifiable ability to gain admission by January 2027.
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
Must be able to engage in limited travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of relevant legal experience.
Law school or similar teaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and locations.
