Job Overview
The Data and Research Analyst is responsible for the extraction, analysis, and interpretation of agency and partner data to identify community needs and measure program efficacy. This role is central to the agency’s "data storytelling" efforts, providing funders, policy-makers, and leadership with evidence based insights into the return on investment (ROI) of agency programs and the overall landscape of child care in Erie County and Western New York.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Act in accordance with the agency’s vision, mission, and values.
2. Extract and analyze data from internal and state databases (including MATCH, MITCH, Civi, and CCFS) to identify trends, service gaps, and community needs.
3. Translate complex data sets into compelling narratives, reports, and visualizations to demonstrate program impact to funders, donors, and policy-makers.
4. Conduct research on local, regional, and state-wide child care supply and demand, census data, and market rates to support agency advocacy and strategic planning.
5. Serve as the primary subject matter expert for agency staff regarding data extraction, reporting capabilities, and the interpretation of system-generated data.
6. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of agency software platforms as they relate to data collection and reporting integrity through regular collaboration with the Technology Support Specialist.
7. Partner with leadership to develop data-driven metrics for evaluating program outcomes and internal process optimization.
8. Collaborate with the Strategy & Development Manager and the Senior Impact Officer to align data projects with high-level strategic goals and grant requirements.
9. Monitor data entry across departments to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract standards and reporting timelines.
10. Serve as a member of the staff team and attend meetings and training as required.
11. Contribute to additional projects and initiatives that support the agency’s mission and overall objectives.
Qualifications and Competencies:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in a field requiring logic or quantitative analysis (such as Social Sciences, Business, Math, or Liberal Arts).
2. Demonstrated experience managing data, conducting research, or performing detailed administrative analysis.
3. Strong understanding of research methodologies, data integrity principles, and the use of data to drive social impact
4. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to identify patterns in complex data sets and provide actionable recommendations
5. Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences, including diverse community stakeholders and agency leadership
6. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple data projects and reporting deadlines independently.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with data visualization tools 8. Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:
1. Multilingual in English and Spanish or other languages that would support servicing our customers
2. Experience with New York State government data systems and confidentiality requirements in human services

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
