Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, a passion for patient care, and the flexibility to adapt to diverse hospital environments. As a Travel RN, you will provide exceptional nursing services across various facilities, ensuring optimal patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to advance your career through diverse clinical experiences and professional growth.

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in medical-surgical and telemetry units, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, suturing, and medication administration, following established protocols.
Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient information precisely and maintain detailed medical records.
Perform patient assessments, vital sign monitoring, and physical examinations to identify changes in condition promptly.
Assist with diagnostic procedures such as cardiac catheterization, laboratory specimen collection, and imaging studies like CT scans.
Implement aseptic techniques during procedures like IV insertion, catheter care, and sterile dressing changes to prevent infections.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists in ophthalmology, infectious disease care, trauma medicine, and hospice & palliative medicine to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
Provide education on health coaching, discharge planning, pain management strategies, and post-acute care instructions tailored to individual needs.
Demonstrate proficiency in critical care procedures such as ventilator management, airway management, ICU protocols, trauma response procedures, and neonatal resuscitation when applicable.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS preferred.
Proven experience working in hospital settings with exposure to medical-surgical units and telemetry; ICU or Level I/II trauma center experience highly desirable.
Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is advantageous.
Strong clinical skills in areas such as IV infusion therapy, suturing, catheterization, laboratory testing, infection control practices, and medication administration.
Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
Knowledge of critical care practices including acute pain management, trauma medicine protocols, infectious disease management, and hospice & palliative medicine standards.
Ability to adapt quickly to different healthcare environments while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care.
Excellent communication skills coupled with a proactive approach to teamwork and patient advocacy.
