Scheduler V (Lead Scheduler)

Lead Scheduling and Project Controls for LACCD’s BuildLACCD Capital Construction Program

Project Support Services (PSS) is seeking an experienced Scheduler V (Lead Scheduler) to oversee scheduling and schedule-control activities for the Los Angeles Community College District’s BuildLACCD capital construction program.

This senior leadership position is responsible for supporting the planning, development, monitoring, and control of program-wide project schedules. The Lead Scheduler will maintain scheduling standards, review contractor schedules, supervise project scheduling personnel, and provide leadership with reliable schedule analysis and recommendations.

The ideal candidate combines advanced technical expertise in Primavera P6, critical-path scheduling, delay analysis, earned-value management, and cost- and resource-loaded schedules with the leadership skills needed to oversee multiple projects and scheduling professionals.

What You’ll Be Doing

Support Program Controls leadership in planning, developing, monitoring, and controlling program-wide project schedules.
Develop, maintain, and update baseline, master, and detailed project schedules.
Incorporate approved scope, activities, logic relationships, constraints, milestones, calendars, resources, and cost information into project schedules.
Coordinate with cost, estimating, risk-management, program-management, design, and construction teams to align schedule, cost, risk, and overall program performance.
Monitor and document construction progress against approved baseline schedules.
Validate reported progress through schedule reviews, field observations, and site visits.
Review contractor schedule submissions for compliance with contracts, schedule specifications, approved baselines, critical-path methodology, milestones, and reporting requirements.
Perform schedule quality-control reviews of critical paths, activity relationships, constraints, calendars, milestones, float, coding structures, and schedule integrity.
Review cost and resource loading for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Perform critical-path, earned-value, schedule-variance, milestone, and completion-forecast analyses.
Conduct time-impact and delay analyses to determine effects on critical activities, contractual milestones, and project completion.
Identify and communicate schedule risks, construction conflicts, and potential delays.
Develop and evaluate corrective actions, recovery plans, mitigation strategies, and alternative sequencing.
Serve as a schedule liaison among contractors, designers, construction teams, project controls, and program leadership.
Develop and maintain complex cost- and resource-loaded schedules supporting earned-value management, cash-flow forecasting, resource planning, and program reporting.
Lead schedule discussions during weekly progress meetings, schedule reviews, and stakeholder sessions.
Prepare schedule-performance reports and updates addressing baseline variances, critical-path changes, milestone performance, forecast completion dates, delays, risks, and recovery actions.
Conduct regular reviews of program and master schedules to verify schedule integrity, coding compliance, data accuracy, and alignment across projects.
Maintain program-level scheduling standards, coding structures, processes, tools, and data integrity.
Collaborate with program teams to establish scheduling standards, best practices, templates, procedures, and tools.
Support schedule-related presentations, technical materials, lessons learned, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Lead the onboarding of new construction-project schedulers.
Supervise the daily work of construction-project schedulers.
Provide backup support during project scheduler absences.
Perform other scheduling and project-controls responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 15 years of recent capital-construction scheduling experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, or Construction Management. Four additional years of qualifying experience beyond the stated minimum may substitute for the required education.
Advanced proficiency with Primavera scheduling software and Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience with cost- and resource-loaded schedules.
Demonstrated knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems or similar processes.
Strong understanding of cost engineering, scheduling best practices, and schedule forensics.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

AACE Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification.
PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

What Success Looks Like

The successful Scheduler V (Lead Scheduler) will provide BuildLACCD program leadership with accurate, timely, and defensible schedule information; ensure project and contractor schedules meet established requirements; identify schedule risks before they become critical; and guide project teams toward practical corrective actions. This individual will also strengthen scheduling consistency across the program and support the development of project scheduling personnel.

Pay: $175,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
