Full Job Description

SoCal Speech Therapy & Swallowing Diagnostics is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and motivated Per Diem/Part-Time Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary rehabilitation team serving adults with neurological, orthopedic, and medically complex conditions.

The Occupational Therapist will provide comprehensive evaluations and evidence-based treatment to adults experiencing impairments in activities of daily living (ADLs), upper extremity function, cognition, visual-perceptual skills, home safety, and functional independence. The therapist will work collaboratively with speech-language pathologists to optimize patient outcomes through interdisciplinary care.

This position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work with a diverse adult patient population in the clinic and, as assigned, in community settings. Our office is located in Tujunga Village in Studio City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapist will:

Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations using standardized assessments and clinical observations.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals, clinical findings, and patient-centered goals.
Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to adults with:
Stroke (CVA)
Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Parkinson's disease
Multiple sclerosis
ALS and other neurodegenerative disorders
Dementia and cognitive impairment
Orthopedic injuries and post-surgical conditions
Generalized weakness and deconditioning
Upper extremity dysfunction
Visual-perceptual deficits
Balance and functional mobility limitations
Address deficits affecting:
Activities of daily living (ADLs)
Instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
Fine motor coordination
Upper extremity strength and range of motion
Cognitive rehabilitation
Home safety and fall prevention
Energy conservation and work simplification
Adaptive equipment recommendations
Educate patients and caregivers regarding home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, safety strategies, and functional independence.
Collaborate with physicians, case managers, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with company policies and payer requirements.
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.

QualificationsRequired

Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
Current California Occupational Therapist license in good standing.
Current CPR/BLS certification.
Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation (if community visits are required).
Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.

Preferred

Experience treating adult neurological and medically complex patients.
Experience in outpatient rehabilitation, acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing, home health, or hospital settings.
Knowledge of cognitive rehabilitation techniques.
Experience with adaptive equipment assessments.
Experience working with patients recovering from stroke, Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological conditions.
Bilingual skills a plus

Work Schedule

Per Diem or Part-Time
Flexible scheduling based on patient referrals and clinician availability
Clinic-based with potential community visits, as assigned

Physical Requirements

The Occupational Therapist must be able to:

Assist patients with transfers and therapeutic activities as appropriate.
Lift, position, and support adult patients safely.
Sit, stand, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
Demonstrate therapeutic exercises and use adaptive equipment.
