Full Job Description

This will be a mainly remote position. However, this role may involve some travel or commuting within LA County in the future, approximately 25 percent of the position.

We are looking for a motivated PR and Social Media Intern with an interest in mental health, multicultural communities, and Asian and Asian American mental health. This intern will support the online and local presence of Yellow Chair Collective, Nabi Family Therapy, and Entwine Community, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

In this role, you will assist with PR outreach, media contacts, and online marketing efforts across platforms such as YouTube, LinkedIn, newsletters, Instagram, and TikTok. This is a good opportunity for someone who is creative, organized, comfortable with technology, and interested in learning more about mental health, community engagement, public relations, and social media marketing.

As a PR Intern, you will help maintain media lists, research local press opportunities, support outreach efforts, and assist with building the local reputation of our organizations.

As a Social Media Intern, you will help create content, research trends, suggest creative ideas, and support engagement across our social media platforms. You will work with the team to help increase awareness, online engagement, and community connection.

PR Responsibilities

Assist with building and supporting the company’s PR strategy.
Help create engaging content for media releases, social media platforms, and newsletters.
Research local media outlets, journalists, feature sections, and community opportunities.
Support relationship building with community partners, potential clients, and media contacts.
Assist with scheduling and organizing events.
Share ideas for marketing initiatives and creative ways to improve public awareness of the organizations.
Research marketing initiatives and campaigns from similar practices or organizations.
Monitor media coverage related to events, press releases, and community features.
Help organize press clippings.
Update and maintain media lists.
Support administrative tasks related to PR, outreach, and marketing.

Social Media Responsibilities

Research audience preferences and current social media trends.
Assist with creating engaging text, image, and video content.
Help design posts that support audience engagement and curiosity.
Support basic tracking of web traffic, engagement, and SEO when needed.
Stay up to date with changes and trends across social media platforms.
Help support a cohesive social media presence across the organization.
Assist with online engagement, including comments, messages, and community interactions when appropriate.
Help develop posting schedules based on engagement and content needs.
Assist with the layout and organization of social media accounts.
Suggest new ways to attract and engage prospective clients, community members, and partners.

Preferred Skills

Some experience or interest in public relations, social media, communications, marketing, or mental health. But not required.
Familiarity with multiple social media platforms.
Basic understanding of SEO, keyword research, Google Analytics, or willingness to learn.
Ability to help create creative content, including text, images, and videos.
Interest in online marketing strategies and communication channels.
Ability to notice trends in social media and digital communication.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized.
Interest in mental health, multicultural communities, Asian and Asian American mental health, or community based work.

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, New Media, Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, or a related field.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
