Graphic Designer Role Overview
We seek an associate-level Graphic Designer (to work directly under the Marketing team) who thrives in a fast-paced environment and looks forward to creative variety through implementing different types of designs and deliverables. In this role, you will primarily create assets with the goal of fueling lead generation and sales efforts. You will be enabled as a driving force and key contributor in evolving our brand’s design language during a period of rapid growth.
Your mission is twofold: deliver outstanding marketing assets and help formalize our evolving brand style guide & visual identity. This is a full-time (6mo contract-to-hire) position for a designer that is comfortable with self-direction and finds excitement in seeing their decisions and ideas come to fruition as a benchmark for the company to follow.
The ideal candidate cares about implementing powerful, deliberate design language that sets the brand apart, while appreciating the value in riding the coattails of industry trends that potential clients expect to see as a standard for a cutting-edge company.
Responsibilities:
As our Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for a broad range of design projects with a focus on marketing and event support. Key responsibilities include:
- Design of High-Quality Marketing Assets: Create compelling software/product design visuals, marketing collateral, sales one-pagers, digital flyers, infographics, and advertisements (for web and social media). The designs should be engaging and optimized for lead generation/sales enablement across various digital platforms.
- Event & Signage: Eye-catching event materials (banners, booth graphics, on-site signage) for trade shows, conferences, and field events.
- Digital Branding & Templates: Develop digital branding elements and templates that will enable you to reuse design systems to maintain a consistent look-and-feel across channels. In this process, you’ll help build and refine our brand style guide and asset library as part of our ongoing rebranding project.
- Internal Design Consultation: Act as the team's go-to design expert, providing impromptu feedback and a design eye in brainstorming sessions and content planning. Offer limited guidance on best practices to colleagues (e.g., for social media posts or marketing ideas), ensuring designs align across the team.
- Presentation & Sales Materials: As the team builds out projects with clients, you will design polished presentation documents (e.g., board-ready pitch decks, external presentations, etc.) supporting our sales team and external senior executives in communicating effectively.
- Other Design Support as Relevant: Support occasional web design or email design projects with consults (e.g., contributing ideas during website redesign, video content/editing, or email campaign planning). While not a primary focus, your guidance will inevitably be requested, and you should be comfortable stepping in to assist with these areas on a limited basis when needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience & Portfolio: Approximately 1–2 years of professional graphic design experience in a corporate marketing department or design agency. We will consider strong entry-level candidates who demonstrate relevant real-world project experience and a portfolio aligned with B2B marketing and events collateral.
- Education: Bachelors of Arts (or Bachelors of Fine Arts) in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related program; or equivalent professional experience and training.
- Design Skills: Proven ability to create visually striking and cohesive marketing materials (digital ads, flyers, social media graphics, presentations, event signage, etc.) that align with brand strategy and support marketing goals.
- Software Proficiency: You can pick the specific tools as needed! We’re looking for general expertise in graphic design concepts & software, whether it’s Photoshop, Krita, or GIMP. We currently use Canva as a primary design tool for ease of collaborative use. Both raster & vector skills preferred.
- Communication: Comfortable with communicating timelines and pipeline flexibility through written and verbal means. Able to articulate design decisions to those less design-savvy, and provide specific, constructive feedback effectively. You’ll primarily work directly with marketing leadership on projects, with some group sessions involving cross-functional team members.
- Project Management: Proven ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities in an environment with ad-hoc design requests. There’s a good mix of long-term projects involving collateral refreshes scoped ahead of time, in addition to smaller, urgent projects.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience designing assets for B2B marketing campaigns or events (trade shows, conferences, etc.) with an understanding of how design impacts lead generation and sales engagement.
- Experience working on a brand refresh or rebranding initiative, contributing to the creation of style guides or brand guidelines.
- Experience with website UI/UX design and/or website wireframes.
- Experience working with videography/editing is a plus (Premiere, Davinci Resolve, etc.)
- Practical knowledge creating graphic-design based animations is a plus.
- Comfortable working in a small, cross-functional start-up or high-growth environment where agility and adaptability are essential.
- Experience with design reviews & conveying concepts to peers in a professional and productive manner.
Collaboration:
In this role you will work closely with the Marketing and Events team, and occasionally collect feedback from Sales and other departments:
- Cross-Functional Projects: Translate ideas and requirements from marketers, events team, sales teams, and sometimes clients or partners, into polished visual content.
- Team Environment: You will be part of a growing marketing team within the tech industry, collaborating regularly to brainstorm creative ideas and solve design challenges.
- External Coordination: While most collaboration is internal, you may from time-to-time join calls or meetings with external vendors and partner companies (especially around events or joint marketing initiatives) to align on creative direction. As the department and graphic designer role expands, this may become more prominent over time.
What Success Looks Like (30 / 60 / 90 Days):
- 30 Days: You have become familiar with our brand, product, and current design assets. You’ve completed initial projects such as updating marketing collateral or contributing to social media graphics. You’re getting a feel for the environment, learning about the products and industry nuances, and collaborating smoothly with the marketing and events team; understanding our processes, and starting to contribute ideas to the style guide and brand kit. Training sessions will be common to perform knowledge transfer and get caught up to speed.
- 60 Days: You are independently managing your project pipeline and delivering core marketing/event design assets on a regular schedule. You’ve developed draft versions of the style guide and brand asset library for internal use, and you have a few templates to expedite work while keeping designs consistent and on-brand. Colleagues see you as the go-to design advisor in planning sessions.
- 90 Days: You fully own the graphic design function for marketing and events. The brand style guide and branding kit are well-documented and are in active use, with clear standards in place. Your designs are recognized for their role in improving campaign performance, contributing to increased lead engagement and supporting our sales team. You’ve streamlined your own design workflows (using templates and reusable assets), enabling faster turnaround without sacrificing quality.
Why This Role Matters To Us:
We consider this Graphic Designer role as essential to our company’s continued growth. As we expand our brand presence, your work will ensure our marketing and event materials are not only visually compelling but also drive tangible business results.
By delivering consistent, high-quality design across all channels, you will help strengthen our brand’s credibility, improve lead generation efforts, and ultimately support our sales success. Your contributions in formalizing our design language and processes will lay the foundation for future creative excellence and scalability.
