Full Job Description

This is a temp-to-perm hybrid role with a minimum of three days in person.

East Boston Social Centers is a multi-service agency and community center that cultivates community, belonging, and joy. Founded in 1918 to welcome and support immigrant families, East Boston Social Centers continues to proudly embrace “welcome” in all we do. Our core services range across educational, social, and recreational programs to support the diverse community of East Boston and our neighbors of all ages. For over a century, our programs and services have welcomed neighbors of all ages, interests, and backgrounds through our doors. Each year, we provide direct programming for 1,500+ children, teens, and adults, with an additional 5,000+ people benefiting from community events.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Community Advancement Officer, the Development Associate will be a part of a growing team of fundraisers and communications professionals that support the Social Centers’ expanding programs. This position is responsible for the overall usage of our CRM (Raiser’s Edge NXT), data structure, quality control, data retrieval, report customization and analysis, and policies and procedures. Additionally, this role works with the Executive Director with administrative support and serves as liaison to the Board of Directors. Finally, this role will work across all programs to support Marketing and Communications by gathering content (stories, photos, and video) and posting on social media. This is an optimal role for an outgoing and personable early career professional interested in a role with lots of variety.

Key Responsibilities:

Development Database Management

Manage and maintain the organization’s development database (Raiser’s Edge NXT), ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
Process and record gifts, pledges, and other contributions.
Prepare and send donor acknowledgements and receipts in a timely and professional manner.
Run standard and ad hoc reports for development staff and leadership.
Support data integrity, including regular audits, updates, and clean-up.

Executive and Board Support

Assists the CEO and other executives with scheduling and meeting prep
Schedules and handles logistics for Board meetings (6-8 per year).
Attend meetings as needed to take notes and prepare summaries.
Enter meeting notes, contact reports, and related documentation into the database or internal systems.

Development Team Support

Assist with prospect research, donor tracking, and data analysis.
Support fundraising events, including planning, logistics, and follow-up.
Assist with mailings, appeals, and other donor communications.
Provide general administrative and project support to the development team as needed.

Content Creation

Work closely with diverse program staff to identify story opportunities and coordinate schedules
Photograph and film day-to-day activities across Social Centers programs (childcare, after school, teen programs, senior programs, and community events) and interview participants to capture authentic, compelling stories
Write, edit, and produce short-form video, photo essays, and written content for social media, the website, and email newsletters
Develop a content calendar aligned with program milestones, events, fundraising campaigns, and seasonal themes
Ensure proper photo/video consent is obtained and on file for all subjects, particularly minors

Social Media Management

Manage day-to-day posting and community engagement across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn)
Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and grow follower base through consistent, on-brand content
Track performance metrics and adjust strategy based on what resonates with the community

Qualifications

Experience with Raiser's Edge NXT or similar donor software database system or general data entry experience with systems such as Salesforce (REQUIRED)
Organized and detail-oriented
Experience in content creation, social media management, marketing, communications, or a related field
Strong photography and basic video production/editing skills (smartphone and/or DSLR)
Proficiency with social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Later, Hootsuite)
Excellent written communication skills with an eye for storytelling
Able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced office environment
Expertise in MS Office and Google Workspace products, esp. Excel, and excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff and clients with a diversity of lived experiences
Ability to interpret, report, and use data
Ability to work independently
Team-oriented
Bilingual (Spanish/English) and familiarity with East Boston a plus

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years or more related experience preferably in development/fundraising or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Compensation and Benefits

East Boston Social Centers is committed to providing competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with the professional qualifications and responsibilities of its staff. The target hiring salary range for this role is $60,000 to $65,000 annually commensurate with experience and education.
