Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Events Assistant and Bookseller to join our vibrant team. This dynamic role combines the passion for books with the excitement of coordinating and hosting engaging events that foster community and are just darn fun.

As an integral part of Epi, you will support event planning, execution, and marketing efforts while providing exceptional customer service in our bookstore. Your love of literature, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks will help create memorable experiences for our community.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing a variety of events including book signings, readings, workshops, and community outreach programs.
- Coordinate event logistics such as venue setup, catering arrangements, guest invitations, and technical requirements using event management software.
- Manage event budgets by tracking expenses, negotiating contracts with vendors, and ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Promote upcoming events through marketing channels including social media, email campaigns, and local outreach to maximize attendance.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with visitors, answering inquiries about books and events, and facilitating a welcoming environment.
- Maintain accurate records within CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems to track attendee information and follow-up communications.
- Upsell related products such as books, memberships, or event tickets to enhance sales opportunities during events and at the point of sale.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations in the bookstore while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in event planning or management within the hospitality or cultural sectors; familiarity with event marketing is highly desirable.
- Planned events in the past or hosted event
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—to effectively engage clients, vendors, and team members.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage timelines, and multiple projects efficiently.
- Customer service orientation with a passion for books and community engagement.
- Experience in hospitality or banquet settings is advantageous; knowledge of catering arrangements is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends during peak event periods.
- Strong self-motivation to drive successful events from conception through completion.
