Job Description – Experienced Plastic Welder and Fabricator
The Plastic Welder and Fabricator position is responsible for fabricating plastic components and products utilizing drawings, measurement tools, shop tools, and equipment.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for welding plastic panels, fittings, and parts from components to a finished product of automated cleaning equipment. The use of plastic welding guns, tape measure, cutting tables and saws, and hand tools is required. Experience with all of these tools is required. The candidate will be required to work at an appropriate pace, ensuring quality products are produced while meeting or exceeding productivity targets at the highest quality standards. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components is helpful, but not required. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

This position requires strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure to meet time sensitive deadlines, demonstrate a strong work ethic and be reliable. You will be assembling custom designed cleaning equipment made from poly-pro sheets cut and welded into large finished equipment. You will read drawings, cut and shape materials, to join plastic pieces into finished products. This requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of or learning different welding techniques, and adherence to safety regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
- Tack and weld various plastics using a hot-air welding gun
- Weld various geometries of components into final products to meet print requirements
- Understand various weld preps and set up techniques before welding
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
- Material handling: cutting and shaping plastic materials according to specifications
- Proficient with measurement tools, hand tools, and shop equipment
- Safety compliance: adhering to department safety regulations and procedures
- Tool maintenance: maintaining and caring for all shop tools, machines, and equipment
- Self-motivated, demonstrating the ability to work consistently and productively under minimal supervision producing superb quality welds
- Ability to communicate in the English language (Spanish a plus) in group, and one on one settings
- Requires a flexible and cooperative attitude, which includes when asked to perform other duties or tasks that are not listed within this job description
- Willing to train a qualified applicant
ATTRIBUTES:
- Prior experience in plastic welding and fabrication REQUIRED
- High attention to detail for quality and precision
- Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for accurate welding with a “Carpenter’s Eye” for detail
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools and how to safely operate them including belt sanders, band saw for close cutting, drill press, lathe, and cutting table
- Must be able to lift, bend, kneel, stand for 8 hours or more per day
- Available to work 40+ hours per week, including weekends and evenings as needed
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures
- Lifting no more than 50 pounds alone and assisting in team lifts of more than 50 pounds
- Must be able to work in a team environment and willing to cross train
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, mechanical drawings, safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Required Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
