We are a well-established, growing logistics and supply chain organization with a multi-site distribution network serving customers across multiple markets. The company provides a broad range of warehousing, transportation, freight management, cross-docking, transloading, and value-added logistics services.
The organization is experiencing continued growth through both organic expansion and the addition of new operating companies. This is a key leadership role supporting consistent operational performance, scalability, and integration as the network continues to expand.
Position Summary
The Head of Regional Operations provides senior operational leadership across a multi-site distribution network within an assigned region. This leader partners closely with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive operational performance, continuous improvement, organizational effectiveness, safety, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
The role owns the operating cadence for the region—establishing standards, coaching site leadership, monitoring performance, and ensuring operational and financial objectives are achieved.
This leader will also play a significant role in the integration of newly acquired or onboarded operating companies. Responsibilities include assessing operational readiness, identifying opportunities for improvement, aligning processes and systems, and supporting the successful transition of new locations into the broader operating network.
The successful candidate will bring strong operational judgment, executive presence, financial acumen, and the ability to translate strategic objectives into consistent, measurable execution across multiple facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Leadership & Strategic Direction
- Provide operational leadership across multi-site distribution operations within the assigned region, establishing direction for performance, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute strategies that improve operational performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
- Lead strategic planning and translate organizational objectives into actionable operational plans across the region.
- Provide leadership with recommendations supported by operational analytics, financial performance, and industry best practices.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Assess existing operating models and lead initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, productivity, and service delivery.
- Lead regional continuous improvement efforts through process optimization, automation, technology adoption, and standardization.
- Develop operating frameworks, governance structures, and performance metrics that drive accountability and measurable results.
- Identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies that support long-term network performance.
People Leadership & Organizational Development
- Provide oversight, coaching, and development to senior site and distribution center leaders and operational management teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate site and network performance through KPIs, dashboards, and financial metrics to ensure achievement of service, productivity, and profitability objectives.
- Support organizational development through leadership coaching, succession planning, and operational capability building.
Financial & Business Performance
- Own operating budgets, forecasting, profitability, and cost optimization for the assigned network in partnership with finance leadership.
- Analyze operational and financial performance to identify opportunities for revenue growth, margin improvement, productivity, and resource optimization.
- Support executive decision-making through financial analysis, business case development, and operational modeling.
Customer & Business Development
- Support business development activities by evaluating operational feasibility, designing scalable solutions, and contributing to customer proposals.
- Serve as an operational leader during strategic customer engagements, business reviews, and other key customer interactions.
- Partner with commercial and operational teams to ensure customer commitments can be consistently and profitably executed.
Network Growth & Site Integration
- Lead operational readiness assessments for newly acquired or onboarded locations, evaluating organizational capabilities, systems, processes, and operational alignment.
- Develop and support integration roadmaps that bring new locations into established operating standards while minimizing disruption to customers and employees.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to establish and execute integration milestones for newly onboarded operating companies.
- Identify operational gaps and establish action plans to improve consistency, scalability, and performance across the network.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in multi-site distribution, warehousing, logistics, or 3PL environments, including oversight of senior site leaders.
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational change, large-scale transformation initiatives, and cross-functional executive projects.
- Strong executive presence with exceptional communication, relationship management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Proven track record of managing operational and financial performance through KPIs, dashboards, budgets, and business metrics.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, operational reporting tools, ERP/WMS platforms, and business analytics.
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned region, including occasional overnight or multi-day travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree in business, supply chain, operations, or a related field.
- Experience integrating newly acquired sites, operating companies, or business units into an established operational framework.
- Experience working within an acquisitive, high-growth, or private-equity-backed organization.
- Lean Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
- Experience in food & beverage, cold-chain, temperature-controlled, or other specialized distribution environments.
Work Environment & Travel
This position is primarily based in a professional office environment with regular travel to warehouse and distribution facilities throughout the assigned region.
Site visits require adherence to facility safety protocols and appropriate personal protective equipment. The role requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, use standard office and presentation equipment, and travel by air or automobile as business needs require.
