Full Job Description

The Law Office of Stephanie F. Dominguez is a growing virtual law firm that provides advice and representation to federal government employees and labor unions nationwide, as well as individuals in non-federal employment law, family law, and juvenile dependency and delinquency matters.

Our cases include employment discrimination (including harassment and retaliation), workers’ compensation, unfair labor practices, and family law and juvenile matters. We represent clients before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), U.S. District Courts, Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and California Superior Courts, including the Family Law and Juvenile Divisions.

POSITION SUMMARY

The firm is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented California licensed attorney—with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in that capacity—for long-term employment.

This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys owning cases end‑to‑end, prefers a remote environment built on trust and accountability, and is not seeking constant oversight or narrowly assigned tasks.

The firm is invested in the long-term success of its attorneys. To allow proper time for firm integration and a steady ramp-up of the active caseload, this position begins at 30 hours per week. It will transition to a standard full-time schedule (35–40 hours per week) within the first three months.

The associate attorney will progressively assume primary responsibility for matters, with an expectation of independent case ownership after onboarding. Responsibilities include conducting initial consultations, formulating and executing case strategies, handling heavy law and motion practice, managing comprehensive discovery (propounding and responding), taking and defending depositions, navigating mediations, and serving as primary counsel at administrative hearings (including the EEOC and MSPB) and state court trials.

Location & Practice Note: The firm's day-to-day operational environment is strictly virtual, and the associate may reside anywhere in California. However, the associate must be geographically capable of covering infrequent physical court appearances, primarily in Southern California.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum of two (2) years experience as a California licensed attorney

· Active member in good standing with the State Bar of California

· Demonstrated ability to independently manage a litigation caseload as lead counsel from intake through trial or final disposition

· Demonstrated history of employment stability

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience in family law and/or employment law.

· Experience with legal practice-management software (MyCase preferred)

· Experience with billable time entries (e.g., clear, accurate, contemporaneous entries; no block billing)

· Experience conducting initial client consultations, evaluating case fit, and successfully converting qualified leads.

· Experience working in a remote work environment

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

· Hourly Rate Range: $55.29–$69.71 per hour (commensurate with experience, education, and training).

· Compensation Structure: This is an hourly position. Total compensation scales directly with hours worked. Based on the expected trajectory to full-time hours (40 hours/week), this hourly rate yields a Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) value of $115,000–$145,000 per year.

WORK HOURS, START DATE, & LOCATION

· Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday–Friday (flexibility required)

· Schedule: Beginning at 30 hours per week to allow for proper firm integration and caseload ramp-up, transitioning to full-time (35–40 hours per week) within three (3) months.

· Start date: Between July 8, 2026, and July 22, 2026

· Location: Remote
