Minimum Entry Requirements

o B.A./ B.S degree

o CPA

o Public accounting experience or equivalent

o Understanding of industry, specific audit information requirements

o Solid interpersonal and communications skills

o Advanced written and spoken communication skills, both in Spanish and English

Role Success Factors

Client Service Excellence & Expertise

o Researches (using RSM Methodology and external tools), interprets, documents and arrives at
appropriate conclusions

o Completes manager-level review for engagements in accordance with RSM quality control
policies

o Knows client’s business goals, strategy and what motivates the client; serves as a valued business
advisor for appropriate client management

o Understands and applies RSM quality standards for self, team and client; models integrity

o Identifies complex accounting issues

People Management Relationships

o Proactively provides client with relevant information (industry developments, accounting guidance)

throughout the year to create and maintain client
loyalty

o Manages and meets the expectations of self, team and clients

o Trains staff through on-the-job training and facilitating internal CPE

o Delegates appropriately while considering engagement economics; provides development opportunities for team and self

o Participates in regional and national activities (facilitating CPE, recruiting, inspections, etc.)

o Delivers effective presentations and adjusts presentation style based on audience (key client meetings, COI, industry, etc.)

o Provides real-time and ongoing constructive feedback (both positive & negative) to entire engagement team

o Possesses the maturity to serve as a role model for staff (client interactions, WorkLife, etc.)

o Serves as client’s first point of contact

o Understands importance of fostering a personal relationship with appropriate individuals at client

o Successfully has difficult conversations with clients and engagement team members

o Possesses the writing skills to draft all client deliverables (financial report, management letter, Board of Director’s letter, etc.)

Productivity & Business Growth

o Identifies out of scope work and tactfully discussess the issue with client, if appropiate

o Meets charge hour and margin goals

o Demonstrates strong awareness of engagement economics and the key drivers of success/profitability;
involved in billing process and financial arrangements

o Demonstrates strong project management and multi-tasking skills; meets or exceeds time and budget
expectations

o Understands RSM service line offerings in all business units

o Participates in internal/external networking activities while enhancing existing COI network

o Participates in proposal process: prospective client meetings, proposal drafting, budget development

o Effectively and efficiently works on multiple engagements at one time while maintaining excellent client s
service

o Responsible for seeing that engagement is complete and ready for director or partner review within
established timeframe and budget; keeps the partner informed on engagement status and key issues in
a timely manner

o Displays an ability to set and maintain business development goals

o Manages existing client relationships to learn about existing and/or potential needs

o Understands dynamics of RSM relationship and engagement history with the client; uses information
about prior work to improve current engagement efficiencies

o Develops and begins to demonstrate strong negotiation skills

Other requirements
