Job Overview

PAY SCALE: Direct Care Staff Room Board and Watchful Oversight (RBWO) Program Supervisor Hourly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: At least twenty-one (21) years of age, valid Georgia driver’s license, able to pass fingerprinting background check, high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of previous experience working with children. About Vashti: Begun as a home for girls over a century ago, Vashti Center has grown into a vital resource for underserved children and youth with mental and behavioral health needs. Our mission focuses on fostering healing, hope, and transformation to empower and promote resiliency in children, families, and communities in Georgia. Our programs include a community-based mental and behavioral health clinic serving six counties, an after school resiliency clubhouse that serves Thomas County children and youth, and a residential care program for teens in custody of the state of Georgia. The ultimate purpose of all Vashti Center’s programs is to strengthen disadvantaged families by providing them with the tools, support and therapeutic services needed to keep them healthy, whole and resilient. We fulfill our mission daily by helping children, adolescents, and their parents overcome destructive behavior patterns that threaten their bonds. Whether the struggle is drug addiction, depression, anger, fallout from divorce, loss of a loved one, or breaking the cycle of physical and emotional abuse, The Vashti Center is the place to which families can turn to find solace, restoration, and hope for a better life. General Description: The Direct Care Staff (DCS) assures that the basic needs of the consumers in care are met and provides necessary supervision and individual attention. The DCS serves as a role model, and procedures of the program of care. Other duties of the DCS includes but are not limited to maintaining cottage cleanliness, participation in recreational activities and transportation of consumers in care. SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists other staff in all aspects of day to day care

2. Implements structure and rules through supervision and guidance of consumers

3. Participates in the development and implementation of the treatment plan by understanding the consumer’s diagnosis

4.Administers and records medications to consumers in accordance with agency policies and procedures5.Assists new consumers in becoming familiar with the RBWO program6.Provides transportation of consumers as directed by supervisor7.Assists staff in developing solutions to individual or cottage wide problems8.Maintains cottage cleanliness and structure as outlined in the cottage inspection form9.Participates in physical restraints of consumers when necessary10.Works in a team relationship with supervisors and other DCSs11.Participates in consumer recreational activities on and off the cottage12.Completes necessary documentation thoroughly and as directed by supervisor13.Reinforces the positive behaviors of consumers in care14.Remains calm and therapeutic in tense situations15.Structures and supervises the laundry time16.Consistently works posted schedule without call-ins, tardiness, or early quits17.Cooperates with schedule changes and is available to work in a crisis or when other Direct Care Staff are unable to work their posted schedule18.Follows appropriate protocol when unable to work posted schedule19.Demonstrates a professional attitude through dress, demeanor and communication

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITES: Each staff member should have 24 hours of training not to include Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention and CPR/First Aid.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBLITES:

1.Participates in required meetings and in-service training2.Other duties as assigned by supervisor3.Represents Vashti in a professional manner at all times.
