Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Manager is responsible for the overall management, stability, security, and strategic direction of the company’s IT environment. The position leads the IT team, oversees infrastructure and systems, manages technology projects and vendors, and partners with leadership to ensure technology supports business operations and growth.

The successful candidate is a hands-on technology leader who can balance strategic planning with technical problem-solving. While not primarily a help-desk role, the IT Manager maintains strong technical knowledge and steps in when complex issues require escalation.

IT LEADERSHIP & OPERATIONS

· Lead, manage, and develop the IT team; establish priorities, expectations, accountability, and service standards.

· Assign and prioritize IT work based on business needs, urgency, risk, and resources.

· Provide coaching, training, feedback, and performance management; participate in hiring and succession planning.

· Oversee networks, servers, workstations, cloud services, telecommunications, wireless systems, VPNs, firewalls, and related technologies.

· Ensure systems are reliable, secure, maintained, documented, and scalable.

· Oversee hardware/software deployment, upgrades, user accounts, permissions, and employee onboarding/offboarding access.

· Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues and high-priority matters.

CYBERSECURITY & BUSINESS CONTINUITY

· Maintain and improve cybersecurity practices, access controls, authentication, endpoint protection, network security, and data protection.

· Monitor and respond to security incidents and coordinate remediation.

· Maintain employee security awareness and support cybersecurity training.

· Oversee reliable backups and ensure critical systems can be restored.

· Maintain and periodically test disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.

· Identify technology risks and recommend mitigation.

STRATEGIC PLANNING & PROJECTS

· Develop and maintain an IT roadmap aligned with company objectives and growth.

· Partner with leadership and department managers to identify technology needs and opportunities.

· Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend investments, upgrades, replacements, and process improvements based on business value, security, efficiency, and ROI.

· Lead major IT projects from planning through implementation, including requirements, timelines, resources, budgets, testing, documentation, and communication.

· Provide leadership with regular updates on IT operations, projects, risks, and recommendations.

VENDOR, BUDGET & ASSET MANAGEMENT

· Manage IT vendors, consultants, service providers, contracts, licensing, warranties, and service agreements.

· Evaluate vendor performance, pricing, and value.

· Develop and manage the annual IT budget; forecast expenditures and monitor spending.

· Recommend cost-effective solutions while maintaining security and reliability.

· Maintain accurate IT asset and software/license inventories and equipment lifecycle plans.

EMPLOYEE SUPPORT & CUSTOMER SERVICE

· Ensure employees receive professional, timely, and effective technical support.

· Establish processes for receiving, prioritizing, documenting, tracking, and resolving IT requests.

· Analyze business needs and recommend appropriate technical solutions and timelines.

· Provide hands-on support for complex issues when escalation is required.

· Promote a positive, patient, solutions-oriented service culture.

POLICIES & DOCUMENTATION

· Develop, maintain, and enforce IT policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.

· Maintain documentation for critical systems, network architecture, configurations, processes, and recovery procedures.

· Establish procedures for technology purchases, deployment, security, access, maintenance, and disposal.

· Review and update IT practices as technology, business needs, and security risks evolve.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

· 7+ years of progressive IT experience, with increasing responsibility in IT operations, infrastructure, systems administration, or technical leadership.

· Demonstrated experience leading an IT team or managing IT operations.

· Strong experience with network infrastructure, servers, workstations, cloud technologies, and business applications.

· Experience with cybersecurity, access management, backup/recovery, and IT security practices.

· Experience managing IT projects and technology vendors; budget experience preferred.

· Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.

· Ability to prioritize competing demands and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

Strong knowledge and practical experience in several of the following:

· Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365; Active Directory / Entra ID

· TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, wireless, firewalls, switches, and routers

· Servers, virtualization, endpoint management, and security

· Backup/disaster recovery and cloud applications

· Mobile devices, telecommunications, IT assets, and licensing

· Cybersecurity tools, practices, and incident response

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.

· Equivalent education, technical training, and professional experience may be considered.

· Relevant Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, security, cloud, networking, or project-management certifications preferred.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

· Primarily office-based with regular interaction with employees and leadership.

· May be required to work outside normal business hours for projects, upgrades, emergencies, or critical IT needs.

· May occasionally participate in after-hours or weekend projects.

· Ability to travel between company offices or project locations when required.

· May occasionally lift, move, or install IT equipment.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
