Full Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and diligent Public Records Specialist to join our background check team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive criminal background research, gathering data from various public and private databases, and providing accurate and timely reports to assist in background screening for employment and other purposes. You will play a vital role in ensuring that our clients receive thorough and reliable information to make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct in-depth criminal history checks using federal, state, and local databases, court records, and other public records.
Investigate and verify criminal convictions, arrests, and ongoing cases for individuals as part of background screenings.
Interpret legal documents, court records, and case files accurately to identify relevant criminal information.
Ensure that all criminal records are handled with the highest level of accuracy and confidentiality, following relevant laws and regulations.
Produce clear and concise reports summarizing findings and ensuring compliance with company guidelines and industry standards.
Coordinate with various authorities, such as courts, law enforcement agencies, and correctional facilities, to gather criminal records and case information.
Stay current with local, state, and federal criminal law regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant.
Maintain excellent communication with clients, providing updates or clarification when necessary.
Collaborate with team members to improve research processes and efficiency.
Identify potential red flags or discrepancies in criminal records and escalate issues when needed.

Requirements:

Previous experience in criminal research, background screening, or a related field is a plus.
Strong understanding of criminal laws, court systems, and public record databases preferred.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze complex data.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Proficiency in using criminal research tools and databases.
Familiarity with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and other relevant legal standards is a plus.
Strong organizational and time management skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
