Wellspring Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia is a skilled nursing facility dedicated to providing comprehensive long-term and acute care services to residents. Our 120-bed facility specializes in caring for individuals with complex medical conditions, including dementia, Alzheimer's, ventilator needs, and wound healing. We foster a fast-paced, friendly environment where staff develop meaningful relationships with residents and their families.

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cook/Dietary Aide to join our dietary team. This role is vital in ensuring residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in accordance with their dietary requirements. The successful candidate will bring a passion for food service, excellent time management skills, and experience working with geriatric populations or in healthcare settings. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our residents while developing culinary and dietary skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals that meet nutritional standards and adhere to specific dietary needs for residents.
Assist in food production, ensuring all dishes are cooked safely and presented attractively.
Follow established sanitation, cleaning, and food safety protocols to maintain a hygienic kitchen environment.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and food handling tools.
Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning work areas, and managing food handling tasks.
Adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, including proper manual handling techniques and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Assist with inventory management by receiving supplies, checking expiration dates, and minimizing waste.

Skills

Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable.
Knowledge of food preparation techniques, meal planning, and sanitation standards such as JCAHO regulations.
Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work well with geriatric patients and understand their unique dietary requirements.
Basic math skills for portion control and inventory tracking.
Excellent customer service skills to ensure positive interactions with residents and staff.
