Nurse Practitioner – Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Hormone Optimization & Medical Weight Loss

About the Role

Birmingham Health is looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner who enjoys practicing a variety of medicine, values building long-term patient relationships, and wants to be part of a growing, mission-driven team.

This position begins with two clinic days per week (Monday and Wednesday) and is designed to grow into a four-day clinical schedule (Monday–Thursday) as the practice and patient demand continue to grow.

The ideal candidate is comfortable managing orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, hormone optimization, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), and medical weight loss. Experience in psychiatry or behavioral health is welcomed and may create opportunities for expanded responsibilities and additional compensation.

We're looking for someone who is clinically confident, communicates well, takes ownership, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.

This position is designed to grow with the practice.

You'll begin working alongside our physicians two days each week. As trust is established, patient demand grows, and we determine we're the right fit for one another, the opportunity exists to expand into a full-time clinical role.

Our long-term vision is a four-day clinical work week, providing predictable hours, long weekends, and a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient evaluations and medical examinations
Diagnose orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions
Develop individualized treatment plans
Manage hormone optimization, TRT, and medical weight loss protocols
Monitor patient progress and modify care plans as appropriate
Educate patients on treatment options, nutrition, exercise, and healthy lifestyle habits
Collaborate with physicians, chiropractors, rehabilitation providers, and clinical staff to deliver exceptional patient care
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives that support excellent patient outcomes

Qualifications

Active Alabama Nurse Practitioner license
DEA registration
Experience in family medicine, orthopedics, urgent care, emergency medicine, internal medicine, wellness medicine, or psychiatry preferred
Experience with hormone optimization, TRT, or medical weight loss is a plus
Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
High attention to detail in both patient care and documentation
Commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate care

Compensation & Benefits

Starting compensation of $52–$56 per hour, based on experience
Performance-based bonus opportunities
Position begins two days per week with a defined growth path to full-time
Once full-time, anticipated annual earning potential of $100,000–$120,000+
Four-day clinical work week (Monday–Thursday)
