Full Job Description

About the Role

As a Precision Tooling Specialist, you will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity and performance of our high-volume injection molding production lines. You will utilize your expertise in precision machining and mold construction to ensure our tooling meets rigorous quality standards, directly impacting our manufacturing throughput and product consistency.

Responsibilities

Construct, modify, and perform complex repairs on injection molds to ensure optimal production output.
Fabricate critical mold components including cores, cavities, and lifters using advanced machining techniques.
Interpret intricate engineering blueprints and GD&T specifications to guide precise tooling adjustments.
Operate a variety of tool room equipment, including CNC mills, surface grinders, and Wire EDM, to achieve exact tolerances.
Execute detailed bench work such as spotting, fitting, and polishing to enhance mold performance and longevity.
Diagnose and resolve tooling failures, implementing effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Verify component dimensions using high-precision measuring instruments to maintain strict quality control.
Document all maintenance and repair activities to support continuous improvement and tooling reliability.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in mold making or precision tooling.
Advanced proficiency in reading blueprints and applying GD&T standards.
Demonstrated expertise in operating manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, and grinders.
Strong background in mold assembly, fitting, and precision bench work.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex injection molding tooling issues independently.
Solid understanding of precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.

Preferred Skills

Journeyman Toolmaker certification or equivalent professional experience.
Advanced knowledge of hot runner systems and multi-cavity mold design.
Experience with specialized welding techniques such as TIG or micro-welding.
Prior experience mentoring junior staff or leading tool room projects.
