General Description of the Position's Function and Purpose

Detail-oriented and organized General Accountant to perform accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), inventory and general ledger (GL) tasks. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial recordkeeping, perform timely processing of transactions, and comply with company policies and accounting standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Process vendor invoices (including 2-way/3-way match), payments and vendor reconciliations.
Issue customer invoices, process cash receipts and assist with collection efforts.
Reconcile AP and AR balances and investigate discrepancies.
Maintain vendor & customer files.
Assist with inventory accounting, posts adjustment transactions and perform month end reconciliations of inventory accounts.
Maintain prepaid expense schedules and post monthly amortization entries.
Maintains and update intercompany transactions for corporate reporting.
Prepare miscellaneous monthly and quarterly journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and assist with audits.
Assist with compliance activities related to the Japanese Sarbanes-Oxley Act (JSOX) and internal control requirements.

Knowledge/Skills Required by the Job

Advanced knowledge of US GAAP principles.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word. (Candidates may be required to complete a skills assessment to demonstrate proficiency in Excel)
Strong knowledge of ERP systems. Oracle experience is a plus.
Strong organizational and communication abilities.

Qualifications - Minimum Required

Education - BS in Accounting or Business Administation preferred.
Experience - 5-7 years related experience
Other - Excellent attendance and promptness are essential
