Full Job Description

Job Position: DoD SkillBridge Opportunity – General Clerk III

Job Location: Solana Beach, CA

Eligibility:

This opportunity is exclusively available to active-duty service members who are eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge Program. Candidates must be currently serving on active duty and within their final 180 days of military service, with approval from their military command to participate in SkillBridge.

This position is not open to veterans who have already separated or retired from military service, reservists or National Guard members who are not serving on qualifying active-duty orders, or members of the general public.

Applicants must meet all DoD SkillBridge eligibility requirements and obtain the necessary command approval prior to participation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of clerical and administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, document organization, and record maintenance.
Operate standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, and other office technology.
Maintain accurate electronic and physical filing systems in accordance with established procedures and applicable requirements.
Assist with tracking, preparing, processing, and organizing documents, reports, correspondence, and records.
Provide administrative support to team members and assist with assigned office projects.
Assist with scheduling, coordination, and routine administrative activities as directed.
Greet visitors and respond to routine inquiries regarding office procedures and administrative processes.
Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion when handling personnel, administrative, and business information.
Perform other related administrative duties as assigned to support effective office operations.

Required Qualications:

Must be a currently serving active-duty U.S. military service member eligible for the DoD SkillBridge Program.
Must be within the final 180 days of active-duty service.
Must have command approval to participate in the DoD SkillBridge Program.
Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Administrative background with experience in scheduling, recordkeeping, data entry, and general office support.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships, professional demeanor, and attitude.
Must be dependable.
Strong time-management skills.
Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time and alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
Attendance and Reliability: Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Training Provided:

Hands-on experience with administrative processes in a professional office setting.
Mentorship and guidance from experienced staff.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

Primarily office environment.
Infrequent work in hangar or flight line areas, which may be noisy.
May be exposed to moderate environmental conditions such as heat, cold, or wind.
Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive motions (e.g., keyboarding).

Hours & Duration:

Program Requirement: Participation is contingent upon the service member’s eligibility for and approval to participate in the DoD SkillBridge Program.

Compensation: Unpaid DoD SkillBridge opportunity; participants will not receive wages or salary from VCT for participation.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, consistent with the assigned work schedule and DoD SkillBridge requirements.

Duration: Determined based on the participant’s approved DoD SkillBridge participation period and must fall within the program’s authorized timeframe.
