Full Job Description

Born in India in 1846, khaki moved from army camps and '70s safari suits to a shorthand for grit and effortless style. At KHAKI, that arc becomes a culinary language: heritage, migration, and a rebellious contemporary Indian spirit expressed with precision on every plate and in every glass that honor the diverse culinary traditions of India.

KHAKI is a modern Indian fine dining restaurant in San Ramon where tradition meets modern India: classic warmth, considered craft, and the easy generosity of an old-world canteen executed with contemporary polish. Our kitchen is seasonal and ingredient-led, with responsible sourcing and disciplined technique.

We are hiring Servers to join our front-of-house team at City Center Bishop Ranch.

The Role Servers at KHAKI are the bridge between our kitchen, bar, and guest. You will guide diners through a menu that draws on the breadth of Indian regional cooking, recommend pairings from a beverage program built around classic and contemporary cocktails, and deliver service that is warm, informed, and unhurried. You will be expected to learn our food and drink in detail, anticipate guest needs, and uphold the standards that define a Michelin-recognized dining room.

Responsibilities

Greet and seat guests with genuine hospitality, set the tone for the meal, and maintain attentive presence throughout service.
Develop fluent knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation, regional context, and allergens.
Take accurate food and beverage orders, enter them promptly into the POS, and communicate clearly with kitchen and bar.
Recommend wine, cocktail, and non-alcoholic pairings that elevate the meal.
Execute steps of service to KHAKI standards: greet, water, order, fire, mark, run, check back, clear, dessert, check, farewell.
Polish glassware and silver, reset tables to spec, and complete opening and closing side work.
Support teammates across stations and shifts, especially during high-volume service.
Handle guest feedback with grace and partner with management on resolution.
Adhere to all California labor, alcohol service, and food safety regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of full-service restaurant experience, with fine dining or upscale casual preferred.
Genuine interest in Indian cuisine and a willingness to learn its regional traditions in depth.
Strong communication skills and a calm, gracious presence under pressure.
Working knowledge of wine, spirits, and cocktails. Sommelier coursework a plus.
ServSafe Food Handler certification and California RBS Alcohol Server certification (or ability to obtain prior to first shift).
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Able to stand and walk for extended periods and carry trays up to 25 pounds.
Authorized to work in the United States.
