AXANTA Fence Supply is seeking a dependable, highly energetic, and safety-focused Warehouse Associate / Forklift Driver to join our Sacramento team.
This is an active, hands-on position that requires consistent movement throughout the workday. The Warehouse Associate / Forklift Driver is responsible for loading and unloading trucks, pulling and staging customer orders, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse and yard.
The ideal candidate has hands-on forklift experience, works with urgency in a fast-paced environment, and understands the importance of accuracy, safety, accountability, and teamwork.
Because our products include metal fence panels, posts, gates, hardware, and other large or heavy materials, candidates must be physically capable of performing the essential duties of the position and comfortable working around oversized inventory, forklifts, trucks, and trailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Operations Manager and follow daily warehouse and yard priorities
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment
- Load and unload flatbed trucks, delivery vehicles, shipping containers, and trailers
- Pull, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Verify product quantities, dimensions, descriptions, and condition before orders leave the facility
- Receive incoming shipments and compare materials against packing lists, purchase orders, and receiving documents
- Inspect materials for visible damage and immediately report shortages, damage, or other discrepancies to the Operations Manager
- Move, stack, and organize fence panels, posts, gates, hardware, and related materials
- Maintain clearly organized warehouse and outdoor yard storage areas
- Restock materials and help maintain accurate product locations
- Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory counts, and inventory reconciliation
- Report inventory discrepancies, misplaced products, and damaged materials
- Secure loads and assist drivers with preparing materials for safe delivery
- Help ensure trucks and trailers are loaded safely, accurately, and in the proper delivery sequence
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free warehouse and yard
- Follow all company safety procedures and equipment-operating requirements
- Complete basic warehouse documentation and data-entry tasks as needed
- Use computers, tablets, scanners, or inventory-management systems when required
- Assist with general warehouse, yard, delivery, and operational duties as assigned
- Communicate clearly and work cooperatively with warehouse, sales, delivery, and management teams
- Maintain a strong sense of urgency while completing work safely and accurately
Required Qualifications
- Previous warehouse, yard, shipping and receiving, construction-supply, or material-handling experience
- Previous forklift-operating experience is required
- Ability to safely load and unload long, heavy, and oversized materials
- Ability to work actively and remain on your feet throughout most of the workday
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy
- Ability to count inventory and perform basic measurements and calculations
- Ability to read order documents, product descriptions, packing lists, and receiving documents
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Dependable, punctual, and able to consistently report to work as scheduled
- Ability to follow instructions and accept direction from the Operations Manager
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team
- Ability to work quickly without sacrificing safety or accuracy
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers, drivers, sales personnel, and management
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Forklift certification preferred; AXANTA may require certification after hire
Physical Requirements
This is a physically active warehouse and yard position. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical requirements include:
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- Frequently bend, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, and carry materials
- Regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Assist with heavier or oversized materials using appropriate equipment or team lifting
- Safely enter and exit forklifts and other warehouse equipment repeatedly
- Work around forklifts, trucks, trailers, metal products, and other heavy equipment
- Work in indoor warehouse and outdoor yard conditions
- Remain alert, energetic, and physically active during the full shift
- Safely perform repetitive material-handling and order-staging tasks
Preferred Experience
- Fence-supply warehouse or yard experience
- Steel, construction-material, lumber, pipe, roofing, or building-supply experience
- Experience loading flatbed trucks and trailers
- Experience handling long, oversized, or heavy materials
- Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, and order staging
- Experience receiving and unloading shipping containers
- Experience securing loads for transportation
- Experience using computers, tablets, barcode scanners, or inventory software
- Experience performing inventory counts and identifying discrepancies
