West Coast Geologic is currently seeking qualified candidates who possess at least a Bachelors of Science in Geology (or similar) to fill a Junior Wellsite Logging Geologist position. Your primary responsibilities as a Junior Wellsite Geologist include collecting and analyzing drill cuttings, putting together a well log that combines all formation and drilling parameter data, collecting and monitoring rig sensor data, and maintaining the gas safety equipment.
We are currently seeking candidates with an educational background in the geosciences. The right applicant will be able to display a solid foundation in geologic principles. They will also be able to display the capacity to be adaptable to changing work conditions, meticulous, and quick on their feet to troubleshoot any problems that arise.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform the collection of cuttings samples at proper lagged depths and/or intervals
- Wash, screen, and dry samples and pack them according to each client's needs
- Responsible for core recovery and packaging when needed
- Maintain rig instrumentation and data acquisition system and perform regular and frequent calibration checks of the instruments
- Perform normal routine maintenance of sensors and other equipment
- Communicate with all site personnel when downhole well conditions change or any drilling issues are encountered
- Rig up and rig down all logging equipment at the commencement and completion of each job
- Maintain an orderly, clean work environment
- Work safely and in accordance with all West Coast Geologic and site specific safety policies
- Maintain a valid driver's license. Drive a company vehicle when required
- Available to work 12-hour days when required (12 hour shifts, 7 days per week are normal hours)
- A typical work month is roughly 15-20 days on shift and 10-15 days off but can vary with changing well plans
- Ensure all tasks performed for the Client meet or exceed the Client's and West Coast Geologic's standards

- Must possess a Bachelors of Science in Geology(or relevant sciences) at a minimum
- Good communication skills: Must be fluent in English
- Must have work authorization
- General Computer proficiency (MS operating systems, Excel, Word)
- General mechanical abilities
- Understanding of electrical systems is a plus
- Prior experience on a drill site is a plus
- Live in the Western US (preferably California or Nevada)
EDUCATION
B.S. in Geology, Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering, or other sciences preferred.
