Job description:
Under the direction of the General Manager, the EMT Field Supervisor is responsible for supporting daily ambulance operations, ensuring high standards of patient care, employee performance, and operational efficiency throughout the organization. This leadership role provides field oversight, mentoring, coaching, and support to EMT crews and Field Training Officers. This position assists with onboarding, training, quality improvement, compliance, scheduling support, fleet readiness, and problem-solving during day-to-day operations. Field Supervisors respond to operational issues, assist with high-priority or complex calls as needed, promote a positive team culture, monitor and enforce safe working conditions, ensure professional and compassionate patient care, and serve as a key liaison between frontline staff and upper management.
Required Qualifications:
1. California EMT-B OR EMT-P certification/license
2. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) healthcare provider certification
3. California Driver’s License
4. Medical Examiners Certification (DL-51)
5. California Ambulance Drivers License
6. Be 18 years of age at the time of employment
7. Minimum of 1 year EMS work experience
Desired qualifications:
1. 3+ years of EMS experience
2. EMS FTO experience or related leadership experience
3. EMS Supervisory experiences or similar
4. Paramedic training and education, or Paramedic licensure
5. CPR Instructor
6. Qualifications/certifications meeting EMS instructor requirements
7. Medical clinical education experience
8. Qualification or experience related to infection control protocols
9. Associate degree in or similar fields: EMS/Medical, Human Resources, Business etc.
10. Ambulance strike team leader qualified
11. ICS 100, 200, 300 and NIMS700, 800
Essential Job Duties:
Clinical Requirements:
- Provide oversight and support to EMT crews to ensure safe, high-quality Basic Life Support (BLS) patient care and professional standards are maintained.
- Respond to operational or high-priority calls as needed to provide field support, mentorship, problem-solving, or direct assistance during patient care situations.
- Monitor and assist with patient care documentation, quality assurance, and clinical compliance activities.
- Assist with onboarding, field training, mentoring, and ongoing development of EMT personnel.
- Utilize fine motor skills to operate medical equipment, communication systems, computers, tablets, and electronic documentation systems.
- Maintain alertness for extended periods and perform effectively under stressful, urgent, or rapidly changing operational conditions.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with employees, patients, healthcare facilities, dispatch personnel, leadership, and external partners.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, maneuver, or assist with patients, stretchers, and equipment in emergency or operational situations.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance when necessary.
- Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, and climb in and out of ambulances, healthcare facilities, and office environments.
- Ability to tolerate extended periods of driving, computer work, and movement between field and office settings.
Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, uneven terrain, and other field conditions.
- Ability to work in healthcare environments with potential exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, hazardous materials, and stressful situations.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments, including ambulances, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, offices, patient homes, and community locations.
Abilities Required:
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills sufficient to mentor employees and address operational or personnel concerns professionally.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, prioritize competing demands, and make sound operational decisions with limited supervision.
- Visual and auditory ability sufficient to assess patient conditions, employee performance, surroundings, and operational safety.
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in the English language.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and composure in high-pressure situations.
- Be deemed fit by a medical provider to don and utilize N95 respirators and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Compensation:
- Annual Salary: $72,000 - $76,000
