Job Overview
5 Peaks Mentor Coaches implement social-emotional learning (SEL) and life skills interventions using group facilitation, coaching, demonstrations, games, and activities to support school-aged youth. Coaches deliver evidence-based curricula including the Botvin LifeSkills Training (LST) program, designed to reduce risk-taking behaviors and promote mental wellness, resilience, and prosocial development in students.

Duties

Deliver Botvin LifeSkills with fidelity to curriculum structure and teaching methods. This includes:
Personal Self-Management Skills: stress reduction, anger management, and decision-making.
General Social Skills: communication, assertiveness, and relationship-building.
Drug Resistance Skills: refusal strategies and peer pressure management.
Facilitate additional 5 Peaks programming such as Basecamp and My Life Explorers, based on group assignments and student needs.
Participate in all required training and professional development, Botvin, Basecamp, Explorer, and youth worker trainings.
Establish a safe and supportive environment for group learning and skill-building.
Use data collection tools to document student participation, behavior, and progress.
Provide timely and thorough documentation of coaching notes and relevant student information on the 5 Peaks digital platform.
Practice strong group management and youth engagement strategies rooted in trauma-informed care and developmental responsiveness.
Maintain respectful, clear, and professional communication with youth, school staff, coworkers, and supervisors.
Attend team meetings, debriefs, and coaching check-ins.
Arrive on site with time to prepare materials and mindset for successful implementation.
Promptly notify supervisors of any challenges or concerns related to students, school partners, or program implementation.
Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Youth Programs Manager.

Experience

Ability to implement evidence-based curricula like Botvin LifeSkills Training with integrity and flexibility.
Strong group facilitation, communication, and classroom management skills.
Experience working with youth affected by trauma and/or high-acuity behavioral needs.
Capacity for reflection, self-awareness, and growth as a coach and facilitator.
Strong written and verbal communication; professional tone in all documentation and reporting.
